    Yes Public Option

As the website (John 10:10 Challenge) points out a public option is exactly what Jesus would do. On the other hand the insurance executives who want to kill Health Care reform in whatever form it comes out would probably be cast into outer darkness where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth.

    Yes Public Option

A very good question Hairless. I'm not a Christian any more but I do love Christ as a example to all of us on how to live. Christ led by example and he healed the sick every where he went and anyone who claims to be a Christian and does not approve of a public option, meaning all who are sick with be taken care of is not a REAL Christian.

No Jesus wouldnt want us to care for the needy and poor dont be stupid!

The answer was worded totally wrong Jesus NEVER! EVER! forced anyone to do as he said. He always asked that you do it from your heart, Revelation 3:20 (New King James Version)20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. This is the parable of how he approaches entering your heart. He didn't say I'll tax them under threat of imprisonment and pay some one to do it for you.

okay Ill tell you what,, if out of the goodness of your heart you could give me 10,000.00 to pay the decutable on my insurnace for the last 2 years of treatment Iv gotten for chemotherpay...... and I deserve it okay.. my husbands VET of the iraq war,, he works full time,,, we have two kids under the age of 13,, we have GOOD insurance that has paid over 250,000.00 in medical costs... ,, we arent beggers or freeloaders.....

the banks screwed a bunch of people in our income bracket by loaning them money they couldnt pay back with the way they set up those loans to balloon over time,, so now the banks took back those houses and are reselling them so low they are killing the rest of us (trying to sell our houses but cant get what the banks says we must) who are trying to not go bankrupt but due to unforseen medical costs ......... I have insurance,, its NOT enough! The costs are outragouse... but no one will make the pharma, med. equpiment people and insurance providers stop because of the LOVE OF MONEY.

do you see how out of control this has gotten? The rich are screwing the middle class of the country hard and then when you throw ONE medical emergency ontop of that,,, it takes us down immediatly. Its happening all over this nation and I Know me and my family are just one more...

#1 you only deserve what earn you don't deserve to take from others and me cause you got bills and want to avoid bankruptcy or what ever, thats life. I feel for you and if I could help I would, but you cant be denied health service as it is and I don't believe in dismantling the best care so that is free. So you live on a tight budget or your poor you are responsible yourself. Your not guaranteed to not be uncomfortable in life. Thats the way it goes look at the pic of me there thats me living at my camp in a trailer 4 years ago, since then I was in a bad accident punctured lung, broken back (lost a half inch of height), broken clavical, arm broke in 5 pieces elbo to shoulder (couldn't be cast, I now have a bar in my arm), and 5 broken ribs, uninsured but they rebuilt me. #2 if you diDnt know what you were signing at the bank that is your own fault I know what i was getting into and I am not any more gifted than anyone else. No one is deserving by their want if you can only afford a trailer tough that is what you get, it was good enough for me it is good enough for any one else, there is also apartments not everyone can afford to own that's the way she goes. Yes I DO SEE HOW OUT OF CONTROL THINGS ARE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE DESERVING BECAUSE OF THEIR EXISTENCE AND PEOPLE IN GOV'T THINK WE WORK FOR THEM, ALL WRONG.

    David,

It might be a good idea for you to go back and read the 5th Chapter of Matthew again. These weren't solicitations coming from Jesus. These were commands - direct straight forward commands. He expected his followers to follow this code and commanded them to do so.

No Jesus wouldnt want us to care for the needy and poor dont be stupid!

No offense, but it feels like you're kind of framing the issue here. A lot of people who oppose public healthcare don't do so because they don't want poor or needy people to get the treatment they need and deserve. Some of us do so because we have a moral and ethical problem with violence and initiated force.

I'm not talking about neoconservative Republicans of course; most of those guys have no problem with violence. But, as a libertarian, I oppose mandatory healthcare for the same reasons that I oppose the draft, the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and prohibitions against gay marriage; because each individual's life should be his or her own, and because coercive and violent means are not justified by positive social ends. Charity should come from the heart as an act of love, not at the barrel of a gun.

What are you talking about? You make no sense. No one would be forcing anyone to use the public option. Right now it is the insurance industry who are using their power to keep people who are paying their premiums to be turned down and deciding who will live and who will die. If that is not force and misuse of power I don't know what is.

No one would force people to *use* the public option, but we would all be forced to pay for it. That's what I have a problem with. Though I agree with you that the current Corporatist system of insurance oligopolies is far from the best approach to healthcare, the calls by Congress to make healthcare mandatory will also hurt the poor and middle class to benefit insurance companies.

I'm guessing that you, as a liberal, would probably agree with me that it's wrong for the government to force Quakers, Pacifists, and anti-war people to support a brutal, despotic military occupation in a foreign country with their tax dollars, especially since this support would violate their most fundamental beliefs. But this philosophy of "live and let live" has to be consistent; and this, in my opinion, is where liberalism and conservatism both fall short. We have to evolve beyond the need to use coercion and violence as the means to social change, no matter which political issue is up for discussion.

That is a very difficult question. Did we vote in the government we had (given it is disputable whether or not Florida really went to Bush)? Yes. Did they misuse the powers given them? Yes. We do have a voluntary society, but in times of duress people tend to loose site of what's important (Freedoms) for the sake of safety (or better the perception of safety). During the Bush years the facts were manipulated to allow for a large number of the populace to be headed into support. It wasn't until facts started coming out that a larger number of people woke up to what truly happened.
