What mistake have the Republicans made since 2000?

Republicans have done everything wrong. How can one just be mentioned? I will list the top things: 1. Not acting on a daily briefing memo warning of an attack using airplanes. GW lied when he said no one anticipated such an attack and as a result, many died. 2. Lying about Iraq having WMDs. Again he lied and people died. 3. Taking the country from a balanced federal budget to deficit spending. So much for fiscal responsibility. 4. Lying about favoring State and individual rights when they neglected to mention if only they agree with the party. So Orwellian.

After deregulation in 99 and 2000, when we needed eyes on Wall St. the GOP let them do as they pleased, hence the collapse of Wall St.

For starters, we can lay the failure of our defense systems on September 11, 2001 squarely at the feet of the George W. Bush administration. At the very least, they were asleep at the switch during the days that led up to that one. Clear warnings had been issued, and they chose to ignore them. They fired the guy who stopped the plot to bomb LAX. They basically botched the whole thing. Then they insisted on trying to force the blame onto people other than the real guilty parties (their Saudi cronies), and they concoted false reports and made deliberate false statements in order to get the war with Iraq that they desired.

We could next examine how they screwed up that war (and the war with Afghanistan), but you said just one thing and I'm already up to two.

we got bin laden thanks to Bush policies that obama was against...before he was for. as soon as it was politically expedient (obama got elected) he reverted to bush war policy exactly.

Messing up the opportunity to unite all Americans after 9/11 – when America was attack we all stood as one American. The GOP took this control into a “fake” war, let Wall Street go buck wild … and squeeze every dime out of the elderly, middle class and disenfranchised Americans.
