In my area the jobs are construction, house cleaning, motel maids, lawn care, child care, roofing. Americans won't do this work for less than they should be paid, illegals will do this work and get paid less under the table and send money to Mexico while they collect welfare and have their anchor babies for Americans to support. Of course Americans want to work. The employers should be held accountable and fined heavily for hiring illegals. Everyone in this country has the opportunity to help fellow Americans, but the almighty dollar is more important than honesty.

What 14 million Americans won't do. The work is too hard the days too long and the pay too little so they think picking vegetables and fruit is beneath them.

National average pay for field workers runs from $10-$18 per hour. Since the work you mention is seasonal, what other jobs are they doing American's won't during the other months?
Ask any general contractor how it's affected his business, ask any land skaping business owner?
$150 per day roofing, painting, carpentry, etc. More for highly skilled illegals.
Machinists in Philly making $18 hr cash.

This poor farm help story is bs and insulting when Americans are losing jobs, losing homes and losing hope.

Your information on pay for migrant workers is way out of range. Fine the truth at: http://www.doleta.gov/agworke...
    Summary of Findings
Farm workers had low individual earnings from farm work; the median income from farm work was between $2,500 and $5,000. Three-fourths earned less than $10,000 annually.
Only one-fourth of the farm workers had non farm work earnings. The median personal income from farm work and other work sources combined was between $5,000 and $7,500.
Few farm workers had assets. About half (49%) owned a vehicle and about one-third owned or were buying a house or trailer in the United States.
Farm worker households also had low family incomes. The median was between $7,500 and $10,000, and over three-fifths of farm worker households were in poverty.
Despite pervasive poverty among farm workers, few used social insurance or social service programs.

I worked in the construction industry for 33 years in Colorado and California with ten years of that as a supervisor or tract manager. Workers in the industry are paid by the piece, not by the hour and all paid income taxes as I did.

Your post is BS and nothing but speculation and hearsay. You have no direct knowledge of what you say.

Soy workers averaged (which means some made more and some less) $666 per week, onion pickers averaged $10 per hr. The soybean rate is $16.65, but that is for workers operating complex farm machinery.

Here's a local contracting company, Whiting Turner, in PA hiring illegals for concrete work for a 50 million dollar project. Note the non english illegal admitting his boss gave him a work ID#.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

My late teen boys need to work 20+ hrs in the dishroom to make $150 a day(minimum wage) Good luck finding a job that pays $10 an hour for an American citizen who does not have any experience, most jobs are hiring them at minimum wage with all taxes withheld and no additional assistance like illegals get from their support groups.

I have direct knowledge of working with illegals, as my husband had 30-50 of them working in his department alone, at an engine machine shop for 18 years before it closed and moved to Mexico. They loved my hubby (best boss ever!) and his company. We spent a lot of time with these men.
One guy made $18 per hr as a linemen boring engines, no taxes paid, he also was a bookie on his off time. WHy? he spoke several languages to communicate with the others who didn't speak english. Veitnamese, Cambodian, and Korean, etc . were his best skills. Another made $16 per hr, saved every penny and retired home in Poland as a very rich man.

Here in Philly, working in the construction industry is a paid by day job. The average illegal carpenter is making $150 per day, this includes painters, spacklers, and roofers. Plus they get a bonuses if the job is done correctly and on time.

We own a roofing company and do not hire illegals, there are plenty of American citizen men out of work, we dont need to hire illegals.

I know Americans are willing to work, $150 a day would thrill them! I've got 4 teens in my home all working as dishwashers and bussers making less than minimum wage or lucky them making 10 cent more than minimum wage. I've got 2 more waiting to get jobs, but no one wants to hire anyone under 18. My 70 year old Mother is making minimum wage working as a cashier after her retirement disappeared (2008) just weeks before her last day at her 70k per yr job. This is her second minimum wage job, once the work credit runs out (13-14 weeks they lay her off, so no unemployment)

Those on unemployment are waiting for their jobs to be recalled. DUH, it's called a lay off, but few ever get the call back to work, the gov't subsidizes new jobs so business gets credit for NEW hires, not those on UE.

Of course some aren't willing to get off welfare for the job, the average amount of entitlements in the USA is 27K per year which includes housing, food, utlilities subsidies, CASH, free phones, free gas cards, free day care, free health care etc. Better than a job, no taxes paid at all. 40+ MILLION on welfare and growing.

Here's you link, the gov't tried to scrub it off the web, but the paper is still out there and now archived forever! 27k to do nothing but suck at the teat of the working class.

Perhaps if you use the keywords above you can read it too.

I don't know why my link won't work, I can clearly read the archived article on google news. So here is some of the info from that page.

"The bill turns the AFDC program into Temporary Assistance to Needy Families block grant." The Cato institute provided the breakdown of all benefits and of course there are more today than there were in 96, like cell phones and gas cards, free computers and cable access.
Obviously these amounts have grown in the last decade and a half.

The article ranks the states with the highest welfare packages. $27k is average in NY is 6th in the nation(equivalent of $13.13 per hour). #1 is hawaii $36k, #2 Alaska $32k

Work under the table and not pay taxes! I would suggest to the 800,000 illegals that they return with their free educations and occupy Mexico City, and reclaim their country by asking for jobs, small business loans and halt the funds going to the 7 families.

I suggest we deduct the $4 billion from foreign aid to their homelands. They obviously don't need any taxpayer provided aid, the aid they get from illegal aliens in America is sufficient.

As an afterthought, why don't the Mexicans go to Mexico City and do an Occupy Mexico City instead of coming here and bashing America?

Great idea, mail the hospital bills to Mexico! The rest of us, especially the insured American citizens are forced to pay for the red ink hospitals have due to illegals.

The health tax law exempts illegals from paying the fine, they do not have to buy health insurance either!

Mexico has a great deal here, they send us their people, we pay for everything they need, they take our jobs and send billions home. Then we give Mexico financial aid. It's a win win situation for them.

One thing on the mail in vote is that you have to sign the security envelope and it can be compared to your signature on record. It doesn't guarantee that the ballot will be counted, however.

Remember on the military vote there were states that deliberately mailed out the military ballots late so there was no chance of them getting returned in time to be counted. The government still insists that there is very little voter fraud. This is another of the old "tell a big lie often enough and the people will believe" it routine. How quickly they forget ACORN, Balmy's group. By the way it still exists they go by different names in the various states.

Yes, Acorn is alive and well funded by our government today. It's quite possible that Obama has broken federal law by funding these affiliates, who happen to share the same addressof ACORN in many cities and have the same leaders as ACORN.

Vadum wrote in an American Spectator piece on Monday: “On registration and mobilization campaigns, ACORN and Project Vote work together to the point where it is a difficult, if not impossible, to tell the difference. They share staff, office space, and money.”

As an example he cites Project Vote’s field director, listed on its website as Amy Busefink. In November, she pled no contest to two counts of conspiracy to commit the crime in Nevada of compensation for registration of voters. In January, she received a year of probation and a $4,000 fine. Vadum calls that incident “a major ACORN-approved voter fraud conspiracy.”

I agree, the government refuses to enforce our immigration laws. E verify is a voluntary program, if it were a requirement, there would be much fewer companies hiring illegals.

E verify would be a great way to raise funds by fining companies who break the law aiding and abetting foreign workers in America illegally.
