It seems that in every election there is one issue that causes people to stay home or vote a particular way. In 2008 the campaign for "Hope and Change" seemed to catapult Obama into the presidency as a leader for the people against the status quo.

Until recently, the 2012 campaign looked like it was going to be about the economy. However, there have been a number of issues surfacing that may relegate the economy to the backseat.

Many people insist that Obama and Romney are two sides of the same coin (Obamney). However, if you look carefully, there are vast differences on many key issues voters face this November. So, my question to you is:

What issue is most important to you in the 2012 election?

Note: My answer selection can be a positive or a negative factor in your candidate selection. I also grouped similar or related issues.

I saw a documentary yesterday about Behaviorism. The Education system in America was briefly discussed. Are you aware of the history of how compulsory education was introduced in America and it's purpose?

I got only a tiny bit of information on it, but it is enough to get me wanting more.

I don't understand the CU case. It sounds like it is about Campaign financing. The process was corrupt before the ruling and is corrupt after the ruling. What is the difference? I know people are screaming because they said Corporations are people.

What does that mean to you and me? How does it alter campaign financing?

Getting rid of any Republicans holding the recovery back for political reasons, with their pledge to a 2 bit lobbyist, and bribed by the billionaires like the Kochroaches. That includes the lame puppet the RNC has promoted to be the figurehead of these obstructionists.

Rampant inflation, brought on by a service sector economy that keeps on printing a lot of money without creating very much wealth. Manufacturing needs to come back to this country and job killing "free trade" agreements need to be replaced with fair trade agreements. free trade funny

My priorities for this election have been focused on the economy and jobs. That was until Thursday. Now it is getting rid of Obamacare.

I have had a tremendous dislike for Obamacare since it was rammed down our throats two years ago. Since I was resigned to the fact that I would probably have to live with it, my concerns then went to the economy and jobs. Now that the Supreme Court has upheld the bill, my attention has turned to overturning the bill and putting something less costly and more manageable in place for those who need healthcare. If Romney says he can do it, he has my vote.

Please - no one "enjoys" wars, least of all the parents, family and friends of our servicemen and women who have been killed or injured fighting those wars and that includes me. Give me a break with those silly assumptions.

Romney wants to go to war in Iran? Really? Can you please provide me a link to that claim?

My health care premiums went from $380 a month for two to $1,018 after Obamacare was bribed into passing. And I still have a deductible. Can't wait to see what my rates are going to be when that travesty goes into full effect. But then again, the underlying plan Obama has always advocated is single payer insurance with the government having complete control over your health care. Gee. I can't wait for that. After all, the government has done such a bang up job with Medicare, Social Security and the Post Office.

I changed nothing on my coverage - it's been the same for years. It's gone up slowly, but took a huge jump after Obamacare was passed. Income has absolutely nothing to do with my premium. (Are you playing the class warfare card?)

    Now your an insurance expert...

Excuse me, wasn't it Obama who renewed the Bush tax cuts?

So, you think I am a 1% and I shouldn't assume I will get to keep my head. Critical thinking isn't your strong suit, is it?
  • Skeptikat Dee 2012/07/02 19:29:26

Excuse me.... but didn't the Bush Tax Cuts help EVERYONE and not just the "rich" as you insist? Yes, indeed they did.

The Buffett Rule is misleading as he paid taxes on Capitol Gains and his secretary paid taxes on Income. Two totally different tax categories. So I would have to disagree that critical thinking is your strong suit if you 1) have not figured out the nuances in the Buffett Rule and 2) use the Daily Kos as a reference.

And to even further burst your little bubble, I have been a registered Democrat almost as long as you have been breathing. The Democrats were once a strong, powerful party that has now succumbed to liars and takers. Someday, I hope they regain the standards that produced great leaders. But, judging from your greed and envy for things others worked for, I won't see a resurgence of decency in my lifetime. And if that makes me a lying snob, so be it.

Reading comprehension is also not one of your strong suits. I said "The Buffett Rule is misleading as he paid taxes on Capitol Gains and his secretary paid taxes on Income."

You are a prime example of why good decent folks are leaving the Democratic Party in droves. Why would I want to be affiliated with the likes of you? Your obvious lack of civility would only bring me down. I will gladly turn my back on you and shun what you stand for - screen door or not.

Why should Capitol Gains be taxed at the same rate as Income when they were ALREADY taxed as INCOME when they were earned the first time???

Had to check undecided as most, if not all, are important reasons and it would be very difficult to choose just one. But the most important issue to me is to vote the mega-fail Marxist, Dictator wannabe out of the office he has shown himself to be completely unqualified and incompetent to hold. That done, the rest will hopefully begin to fall in line.

There is nothing more important than the Supreme Court, we've witnessed that this week. Obama must go, his communist friends must go and we need to take the Senate back. There is nothing good about Socialism and state control. There is nothing good about economic and social planning. Redistribution of wealth means everyone will be poor except for the elite few.

Reinstating limits on corporate influence on the ability to write law and fund elections. Every other law that has been tried to be passed just gets water downed and eviscerated by lobbyist backed loopholes. Remember the Dodd-Frank Act, the tax code or even the Affordable Care Act? I think the lesson to take from the past few years is that the degree to which this country is controlled by special interests has made reform nearly impossible.

Specifically the national debt. We need to kill the Fed, balance our national accounts and the only way we can do that is by severely reducing spending. We can diddle around with taxes, but ultimately it is out of control spending that is racking up ruinous debt. I think many of the issues are critical and it makes it hard to make one the end all issue.
