Question US

What is the REAL reason Democrats lost Governerships in New Jersey and New York?

Javimendo November 04, 2009 16:43:35

The Obama magic has faded... That’s no surprise — as that magic was a largely substanceless froth whipped up by campaign consultants and compliant big-media cheerleaders. ...The truth is, Obama wasn’t ready to be president when he ran in 2008... — he himself admitted upon entering the Senate that he wasn’t qualified to be president...

There's no ONE "real" reason, anymore than there's one real voter who affected the change. But if I had to pick one reason I'd say we don't like one party to have all the power. Because the three branches refuse to use the balancing system of checks, We The People try to keep them in check with the only tool we have--a lame two-party system.

"That was a huge victory for Democratic party" --- some black Congressman on TV.

Oh, well... I wish Democrats more of such victories in 2010 and 2012.

Btw, Cristie promised to get rid of Democrat's corruption in New Jersey and to put everybody in jail where they all belong.

Yeah right, Republican governors don't matter.

I didn't think that we were voting for President. Maybe the people of these states actually were voting for the Governor of their choice regardless of national politics. New Jersey is the one that I think probably has the biggest message for Dems. Virgina was inevitable.

The Virginias in my area don't care about "local" issues. We really want democrats out no matter what office they hold. The lap dog media is playing it off because congress is next in 2010. issues democrats office hold lap dog media playing congress 2010

I think the elections in New Jersey follow the pattern that has been set for decades. Their govenor has always been of the opposite party of the US president. Al the other choices are biased hateful and racially charged.

They lost the governorships of New Jersey and Virginia. They won a congressional race in New York.
As for why, they lost (in Virginia at least, I haven't looked into New Jersey as much) because of concerns about fiscal policy among the middle. The middle went for Obama in the last elction in New Jersey and Virginia, and they didn't this time. In Virginia, at least, the governor to be ran on fiscal conservatism. If the Republicans are wise, they will look at what he did and go with that next year.

I think the people are sick and tired of the politicians lying to them. As soon as the people realize that politicians lie, our country will be a better place and we can start getting some REAL work done.

A more accurate question would be:

Why did the Republicans lose New York's 23rd district Congressional seat to a Democrat, a seat that they have held for a majority of the time since the civil war?
