SodaHead Celebrates Green Week

Question US

What is the most likely October surprise to knock Obama out of the race?

MT Chris October 07, 2008 17:19:24

As an Obama supporter and with history on my side, I'm genuinely worried. While this election looks like Obama's to lose, I still suspect that there is a good chance for an October Surprise that could give this election to McCain. What would the most likely (successful) October surprise be? (I'm afraid to put the "unthinkable" as an option, but I'm honestly worried there's a finite probability of that as well. I'll leave that to "other")

There will be no October surprise that successfully displaces Obama's trajectory to the White House

However I fully expect the McCain Palin camp to come out with more distorted facts about him. But perhaps then everyone would see them for the vicious liers they are.

Obama speaks different, and makes different promises to different groups he talks too. Will cost lots of money. People are starting to watch alot of UTUBE videos showing WHO got payoffs from fanny and freddy, and what party covered thier buts. Its the biggest scandal in history, and for the congress, well the house banking scandal was almost ALL democrats too. In this instance the people who you hang with and the deeds you do, will catch up with you, or Obama , in this case. I think his own issues will hurt him

Well, I am unhappy with the Dems role in the current crisis as well, but there is this to consider:
    http://politicalticker.blogs....
(note the second finding for McCain)

By the way, it was the Gramm/Leach (both Republicans) in 1999 that repealed many of the provisions of the Glass-Steigall act, which Clinton signed (unfortunately) that helped accelerate this mess.

I think both parties have a role here, both parties get deservedly hurt. We need to have smarter regulation to prevent this from happening again.

I think if there is an October surprise..the surprise will be on McCain! At this point after how John McCain has been showing his ineptness and ugly smear tactics.... even if there was an attack on Iran by the US or Israel... intelligent people will agree that Obama is the best man to handle it.

I'm not worried! I think that no matter what arises from now until the Nov. 4th election, Obama will face that challenge with the right kind of leadership and confidense we need in him. I have great faith in his ability to lead or I wouldn't be voting for him.

Palin is more smug than any of the most "elistist" democrats I've ever met. She's so proud and sure of herself. Just like a GWB I remember running in 2000/2004.

Anyway, sorry for my random thoughts on "elite", which is a popular term these days used to slime people that excel in education and achievement. Thus, I aim to be an "elite" member too ;-)

More intense swift-boating (false or misleading slams on Obama's character)

I'll choose this answer though I don't believe they are false or misleading claims...I think his past will come back to haunt him, especially if he keeps refusing to answer questions...you should want those answers too..

Sure, I would love to know if there are important factors, but so far, nothing they have slimed up against Obama has seriously compromised my support for him. And yes, I do know about Wright's speeches (while a bit contraversial, politically incorrect, but in their full context, they had some good points and I think the sound bytes were blown out of proportion) and I know about Ayers (yes, they live near each other, worked on a school board together for a common goal of improving education, and Obama condemns and always has condemned Ayers detestable acts in the 60s). I'm open to learning the truth, but what I see now is desperate mud-slinging that is used in every election. And it always works, thus Republicans always rule the country in the last 30 years (except for a few blips), and we see where that has gotten us. There's plenty of junk to be dug up on any human being. Who ever is free from sin should cast the first stone, eh?

I'd just like to see Obama honestly answer these and other questions...he stumbles around the answers and throws people away when it is politically expedient to do so...even his grandmother...where's his birth certificate? Where's his college records? Where's his medical records? Where are any of the answers where he's concerned? If he has nothing to hide, produce these things and put it all to rest...

I think it is more important for old man mccain to produce his medical records in a manner that is not a publicity stunt. He should also undergo an examine for altheimer's. He has already shown 9 of the 13 signs in his public statements. Obama's birth certificate is a matter of public record and if you did your homework you would have easily found it. You are just repeating republican misinformation.

You can't believe the truth. I guess that you have been so brainwashed by the right that you are unable to do your own research. This shows a lack of intelligence on your part and having a conversation with you is a waste of time. If you don't like the facts try to disprove them with something other than a juvenile reply.

Nobama is not ever going to tell the truth about anything. He is not as intelligent as everyone thinks he is? There is charisma there but no character and substance like John McCain. I know a thing or two about judgment myself. There are those that say they can and others that do it! McCain has already proven to us that he is worthy of this opportunity. Nobummer is a amateur pretender in the world of politics and accomplishment!
