What is a real marriage from the bible.

Thomas Rea: Gay Christian Advocate 2012/07/31 16:42:30
I am sick of people say that they rather allow traditional marriage that is base from the bible.

Guess what you are wrong

Marriage was a arrangement between families.

My main thought is Why aren't we going back to it?

Do you think that its not what God want or your want?

Oh yes, we will talk about divorce later.
You!

May I ask you where you got your info about "traditional marriage is only arranged by the parents" and not from the Bible? I think a crucial part of your statement is missing in proving what you you believe. I mean you can be upset, and disagree with anyone, but just because you say it doesn't mean it's true no matter if you're "sick" or not, but backing it up with opinion isn't proof, so help me understand what you mean.

So gay marriage should be legal because heterosexual marriages are no longer arranged by the parents? That's just about the weakest, most pathetic argument I've ever seen.

One should argue it from the point that marriage's only purpose, or benefit, is legal. Shutting a group of people out of a set of legal protections solely based on their sexual preference is ridiculous.
You could even argue that statement, that would rather allow traditional marriage that is based from the bible, based on a separation of church and state (again, the only benefits of marriage is legality).

The best you could come up with, though, is that the WAY that heterosexuals find who they'll marry has changed?

Tom - I think the point may be that many people that oppose gay marriage do so because as Dan Cathy of Chik fil a puts it, they want to preserve the family unit as it was defined in the bible . Of course they conveniently forget that pologamy was perfectly allowable in the eyes of god and that wives were property with little to no rights and in certain cases concubines were allowed as well. So I think the weak position here is those against gay marriage who say they oppose gay marraiage because they want to uphold the traditional biblical definition of marriage when modern marriage bears little resemblence to marriages during biblical times.

I will agree with you, much better said.

Far too many don't know history anyhow, let alone history of a social construct.

Look if you did not like what I said. You could have move on. As i said "I am sick of people say that they rather allow traditional marriage".I wish people to understand that traditional marriage is not the same as they think.

I agree with what you said, not how you said it. There are many stupidities surrounding the idea that traditional marriage based from the bible is 'better', and other arguments to be brought up as well.

The only one you brought up was the arrangement by the families, though. That small piece of what 'traditional' marriage based from the bible was has no real relevance. It immediately took the idea of the post from something useful being said, to something easily blown off as idle chatter.
