What if women just stopped using birth control all-together ?

Since the Conservative men seem to think women do not need affordable birth control what would happen if all women just stopped using all birth control and let nature take its course ?

US population is 307 million and a little more than half are women so lets call it 150 million women. About 55% of those are in their child bearing years 14-45 so that is about 83 million women that could get pregnant at any time without birth control.

Without birth control and with regular sex the law of averages say a women will get pregnant within 1 year.

Assuming all those babies lived and not counting for multiple births we would have 83 million new little babies in the US in just one year after ending birth control. We would have increased our US population by just about 1/3rd.

So in 3 years without birth control we would double our population and so on and so on until those first new babies become women and then it magnifies those numbers to the point where in 50 years of this plan we would have a population growth like China has experienced.

So all you Conservative men that think Birth control is just an unimportant issue that women should stop worrying about and pay for themselves- how would you feel if women just stopped using birth control all together and let you deal with the problem.

Are you men willing to step up for that old snip-snip vasectomy or will you shower with a rain coat on and wear condoms every single time ?

Are you men willing to raise and pay for all those new children you are going to have- and God forbid you get divorced and pay child support ?

Are you men willing to pay more and more for everything as our food, water and fuels are depleted through more population growth ?

Are you men willing to pay higher and higher taxes to pay for the increase in poverty that a massive population growth would cause in the US ?

Have you men really thought about this issue at all ?

Well you need to think about it now because if you keep making birth control harder to get and more expensive- that will be the result!

Funny I heard when the pill was originally being developed that it would have been easier to implement on a man in the first place.

The problem with a male pill is making it easily reversable. Hormones in men do some strange things.

I think that they would be interested...problem is, could you trust them when they claim to be on "the pill"? They aren't the ones risking getting pregnant.

You know as a young turk when I didn't have a wife and kids to feed and entertain I would have LOVED to have something like this so that I wouldn't have to worry about the condom breaking during my wild times.

It was my experience when I was young, that most men never thought about it at all. Only once was I ever asked if I was using birth control.

Are you kidding me? That was one of the main questions I asked before taking a woman's clothes off. That and the fact that the most prevalent STD's don't make themselves known for years so you would have no idea that you would have it or if you're spreading it.

I would favor a general boycott on all elective drugs as part of a general strategy--until this out-of-control, revolving door collusion between big pharma and corrupt government is brought under control.

    Hahaha, love it, 2012.

What has annoyed me a lot lately about the renewed controversy on this topic is that, as usual, men want the right to "lay down the law" about what women should do.

As soon as insurance companies drop covering Viagra for mere aging ED, get back to us, boys. Mother Nature says as you age you WILL slow down. Suck it up.

That's not just a lot of new babies, guys. DNA testing ... it's very easy to prove paternity now. DNA testing and a women willing to take you to court, well, unless you're willing to use a condom each and every time, and even they aren't foolproof, or get a vasectomy, that one night stand or brief dalliance of yours could very possibly turn into 18 years of child support payments. Think about it. Think long and hard.

Aw, shucks, whimsycrat, you know men will just say women can use the morning after pill now, so they still don't need to use condoms if they don't want to.

You will have to tract those alley cats down to get that testing done. A whole new team of investigators will be needed to get that done.

    "Think?" Much too complimentary, ehrhornp.

It's all about personal responsibility, you know. And the women are as bad as the men -- "I pay for my own bc and don't expect anyone else to."

Still it is rather pathetic for republicans to bring this issue up again. And for the republicans to try to mandate wheat insurance companies provide or not provide is well so Orwellian.

TOTALLY pathetic. But they'll never stop -- wheel spinning is a national sport for them.

If Dems "mandate" anything, it's horrible, communism is at the door, our liberties are being destroyed (again), but if it's something they care about, they'll "mandate" till we all turn blue and tell you that it's ok because their cause is righteous.

Aside from health care which was originally proposed by a republican, what have the democrats done that is anywhere close to communism? Well perhaps the bail out of the auto industry but do you think the republcians would allow our manufacturing sector to go to hell? I guess with the tea baggers, I guess they could.

Seems like our liberties were first destroyed by the republicans by the passage of homeland sucrity and then by spying on American citizens without a warrent. Obama unfortunately has continued this and it needs to be stopped. I believe democrats would be more likely to put a stop to this than republicans. Republicans run on fear, hence the push to give up freedom for security.

The almost unanimous vote in Congress this week on the "Anti-Protest" Bill tells me that Dems are just as fearful as the Republicans and not likely to stop anything.

I see little difference in the leadership of the 2 parties, except that Dems want all illegals to be treated as citizens and Republicans don't.

I see the republicans really trying to control women. Democrats for the most part do not support such stupidity.

I have written my democratic rep asking about that bill. I suggest you do too if you haven't already. Only by citizens pushing back against such bills will it be stopped.

My Rep's pretty right-wing, but I'll ask my Senators -- good idea, tx.

I agree with you that Republicans (Conservatives anyway) want to control women, but we (women) and sensible men like you have to stop it. Politicians are mostly opportunists and want to be reelected -- and, like it or not, a lot of people (including women) don't have a problem with what's happening. In fact, they like it. I think they're nuts, but why should they care what I think? I certainly don't care what they think lol.

One of my daughters is a "social and cultural critic" living in another country. She's both knowledgable and eloquent on the trends working against women.

I'm glad you see that it's a real issue, not female "hysteria."

One thing I learned from my mother is that when group is controlled, it won't be long before all will be controlled. If one believes in freedom, one must believe in the individual's right to make their own decisions and not rely upon government.

I have noticed there are a fair number of women here who are a bit out to lunch. Fortunately there are women here who believe in freedom and not the propaganda put out by the phony conservatives.

Some of the biggest abuses began in the 1980's with the Repubican's War On Drugs which was tantamont to being a War on the People. They essentially eliminated the protection of the 4th amendment (from which we've never recovered); illegal electronic surveillance and sting operations ran rampant; "conspriacy" was the new drug offense to force people into cooperation; people were arrested and threatened with conspiracy charges if they didn't testify against their spouses; federal judges lost their discretionary power in sentencing -- resulting in simple drug users and those on so-called "conspiracy" charges being sentenced to the new maximums of 20 and 30 years in prison.

Of course, what can we expect when we elect the former head of the CIA to the office of President (George Bush). And then Junior comes along and adds the Patriot Act to the damage already done by his father. When one comes from that kind of power and privilege, I guess it's difficult to comprehend how abusive these laws are to the average person.

So true...but alas, once a generation learns its lessons, it dies away! The next generation tends to think it knows better than the previous generations -- and the mistakes begin again! At least, that's my take on it...for whatever it's worth:)

Shame people cannot learn from history. Now I am afraid that the prison indutrial complex has become too large and powerful. They need criminals so laws are unlikely to be amended. In fact there will probably be new laws telling you what you can and cannot do. What a waste.

Yes, which I do. Love to point out the hypocrisy of today's republicans and how they would hang their previous leaders like Eisenhower, Nixon, and Reagan. They generally don't like that but the truth hurts. Eisenhower 1956 platform was a lot more liberal than anything the democrats have put out and Nixon was the father of Obamacare. Finally uncle ron violated the prime directive by increasing taxes on a number of occasions besides calling for an end to nuclear weapons.

The truth is...there's not a huge big difference in the whole lot of today's politicians...we're often forced to choose between who we think will do the least damage...
