Now I already asked what President Obama has done in his time so far in office and you can read and respond to that here:

http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/what-has-president-obam...

So now let us look at what the Tea Party Congress that won a majority in the House has done since 2010.

Now remember they pledged to create jobs-jobs-jobs but have produced not one single job creation bill and have blocked every job creation bill produced by the senate including the highway bill from John Boehner until it was so watered down it does nothing.

Tea Party Congress Accomplishments

1- Symbolically read the constitution, skipped parts of it, and also read part of the Declaration of Independence, while still claiming to be reading the constitution.
2 Congressman swore themselves in by watching the swearing-in ceremony on TV, without actually attending. They later had to be sworn in again, and 2 of their votes were deemed invalid since they had not been properly sworn in.

2- “Symbolically” voted to repeal the healthcare bill. Spent hours debating it beforehand, even though they knew it was purely symbolic and would not become law.

3- Attempting to de-fund Global Warming research.

4- Attempting to defund healthcare, which is also mostly symbolic.
Proposed a budget that would cut billions of dollars in aid to the poor, the homeless, and women and children.

5- Extended the Patriot Act.

6- Attempted to cut all funding for Planned Parenthood and PBS.

7- Attempted to redefine rape to no longer include statutory rape, incest rape, or drugged rape.

8- Cut Pell Grants

9- Attempting to cut 1 billion dollars from Head Start. This would mean that over 200,000 kids would lose their spots in preschool.

10- Working on adding guidelines to delay implementation of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal, despite overwhelming support for its repeal.

11- Proposed a bill that would let a hospitalized pregnant woman die instead of having a life saving abortion, if she needed it.

12- Holding hearings into “radicalization” in the American Muslim community.

13- Attempted to cut money to Veterans.

14- 1 married Republican congressman was found to be looking for women on craigslist.

15- Refused to compromise on a budget and are threatening a Government shutdown, which will put thousands of people out of work.

16- Made 2 responses to President Obama’s State of the Union Address. Neither of them offered any real solutions to create jobs.

17- Currently considering privatizing Medicare.

18- Voted to fund chemical contraception for wild horses, but voted to cut funding for contraception for human women.

19- Voted to continue spending millions of tax payer dollars to sponsor a NASCAR racecar.

20- Michelle Bachmann stated she believes Glenn Beck is qualified to solve the budget deficit.

21- John Boehner has decided to use the Congress to defend DOMA in court, since the Justice Department will no longer defend it.

22- Voted against letting the last surviving, American, World War 1 veteran be honored in the Capitol building’s rotunda, after he passed away.

23- John Boehner has said himself that if jobs are lost because of his proposed cuts to the budget “so be it”.

24- John Boehner has cried excessively over his own personal history, but has not cried once for the millions of Americans who lost their jobs thanks to policies he supported while Bush was President. Policies he still supports.

THAT IS IT- The Tea Party Conservatives must be very proud of doing NOTHING to create jobs, help the economy, and reduce the deficit because now they can't wait to get in the White House and do even more of NOTHING!

The house has attempted to pass quite a few bill that would have benefited this country, but every time they do it is either tabled by Reid or blocked by the dem led senate. I would rather they do nothing than do what they did when congress was run by the left.

Not even close- what they sent were huge cuts to medicare, planned parenthood, the EPA etc. and called those jobs bills knowing full well the senate would not pass them.

they have not sent up one clean jobs bill since 2010!

I like it when the congress gets nothing accomplished. It means were not getting screwed over as much by the government. To be sure it's not the tea party congress. Since there is no political party called the tea party. Those backed by the grassroots tea party don't have the majority in the GOP to call the shots..............

If you're a problem with the patriot act. Ya' need to take it up with your boy obama. He signed the extention. Where the GOP congress has been a let down is the fact they've done nothing about the spending spree of obummer.................

You're right as far as you went. There are by some counts about 400 individual Tea Party groups. Many self servingly call themselves names like the Tea Party Patriots as if they really are.

And you're right that it's not the Tea Party Congress. It's more like the Tea Party House. And even though the Republican Senators are in the minority they can control how the votes go because the Dem Senators don't have the necessary 60 votes to pass most bills.
  • Radlad Tedster 2012/03/17 12:27:38

I don't know so I could be wrong but the tea paty sprang up in response to the administrations out of control spending. The only thing that they may be self-serving tends to benefit us all about the taxes..............

As for the senate I fail to follow your thinking. reid controls the senate and seems to shelf everything that the republicans put forward. Does not allow it to come up for a vote. The tea party congress as you put it has in my opinion has been a failure. Since its mission was to reign in the massive spending spree of this administration. It has failed to even slow it down...........

I think you're missing two things. One is that I believe the Tea Party movement sprung up just as the 3 KKK movements did in response to social issues, in this case Obama becoming president.

As for the Republican majority Congress being obstructionist, it has nothing to do with reigning in Obama's spending and everything to do with, as Mitch McConnell said, "our biggest priority is to make Obama a one term president". Screw the economy, screw the country and screw Americans especially the middle class. They thought if they prevented him from doing anything then he'd lose in 2012 so they've blocked everything they could. Too bad but it hasn't worked so now they're on a suicide mission trying to change the issues to social ones like abortion and women's reproductive rights.

As for the massive spending to which you refer, it's instructive and important to note exactly where that's come from. Since he's left office W's UNFUNDED programs such as the two wars, the tax cuts for the rich and his $800 billion BJ to Big Pharma the Medicare Part D program have cost $5.07 trillion and counting. The actual number is probably closer to $5.2 trilion per the NY Times study. It's no coincidence that if you divide that $5.07 trillion by the 3 years since W left it averages nearly $1.7 trillion, while our annual deficits have averaged about $1.3 trillion. And isn't it odd that the national debt has risen by $5 trillion and that's the same amount that W's programs have cost? That's what the connedservatives should be railing about. Some fiscal conservatives they are!

#1) The race card again? O.K. Fine

#2) You don't see that barry's policies are doing nothing to harm the middle class?

#3) Oh yeah sorry I lost my head for a moment. It's all dubya's fault.

#4) Ya' might have a point there if that's where the money went. Most went to unions and other allies of obama. So far what I've seen obama spend to this point has been chump change. And you never asked why all the funding for obummercare does not kick in until after the election of 2012 which will cost twice what we were told it would? O.K.Fine............

They have lived together in rented apartments in Georgetown, and held "prayer meetings" every night, attendance required. They share the rent and they wash their own clothes and dishes. Only "God" knows what they share when the lights are turned out at 10:30 p.m. Otherwise, during the days, they seem to do nothing, perhaps playing racquetball at the House gym. They have succeeded in shutting down the functions of the U.S. Congress and strangling the Government, leaving all the problems to another time and the nation in a state of turmoil and suffering. These people, of course, love suffering and pain as it is a big part of their "religious heritage" to inflict pain on the "non-believers". Their ancestors, the Puritans, burned their daughters and mothers at stakes in the public square to show how "pure" they were. I've heard that some of the apartments in Virginia have a large stack of sticks and firewood in the carports, which might be a sign of things to come if these nutcases are reelected in November. Other than that, Speaker Boehner says they are an anchor to all that Congress might do, but he is powerless to control them. I think he knows of the sticks in the carports and has some fear of offending these lunatics.

The best thing they've done is slow down Obama's failed agenda. My biggest problem is that they compromised on raising the debt ceiling without forcing Obama to sign off on actual cuts in federal spending.

Slowing down job creation is your idea of helping America ?

Major cuts to programs people need to survive is called austerity and would throw us right back into a recession or worse.

If anything Obama's policies have slowed job creation. Pushing Obamacare through along with failure to make the Bush tax cuts permanant have slowed job growth because of the uncertaintly in future costs they've caused for businesses.

With our current debt problem we have no choice but to start looking at everything and deciding what can be cut. This administration has made no real cuts to date. The cuts they claim to have made were only reductions to the amount they would increase the debt.

Yup, I think that little ass kicking in 2010 was the end. Tea Party candidates were elected and now the electorate that put them there wants them out. Once the people who voted 'em in found out what Tea Party policies would REALLY mean, it resulted in buyer's remorse, recalls, demonstrations, special elections and the birth of that little thing called Occupation Wall Street.

We'll see what happens in November.
