I have owned several small businesses and if there is one thing I can tell you, it is this, the person who came up with the slogan, "The customer is always right," WAS WRONG! The customer 9 times out of 10 is always WRONG! He was nothing but a customer and he probably NEVER owned anything. Do businesses make mistakes YES! Do customers make mistakes YES! Never walk into someones house (business) and try to tell them what you are going to do. Try that with me and you get THROWN OUT! Act RESPECTABLE, BE NICE and most people are willing to help you out and correct any mistakes they made. Try to go in like a BAD ASS, and I will show you just how bad you aren't. Anybody who disagrees, is a customer.

Although I will say, as a business owner, CUSTOMER SERVICE at most places SUCKS. You want to see good custome service, walk into a Chic-Fil-A and you will get some good customer service. This is the ENTITLEMENT AGE and far to many people think they are owed something that they have never worked for. Staffing a business is one of the biggest headaches and problems business owners have. Everyone thinks they are worth $20+ dollars and hour, yet most people can't complete minimum job requirements at the minimum wage rate. Most of the times if you work hard you get rewarded....

If your boss does not notice you, speak up or do something that makes him notice you. business owners are always looking for the people we can trust and depend on. Show me that guy or gal and I will show him/her more responsibility and money.

..most corporations won't do anything that doesn't provide immediate profits. I have, however, found one company that has the best customer service I've EVER seen in my 64 years; GARMIN, the GPS people are fantastic for customer support and service

I don't know, but if I had ever pulled some of the crap that service people do now, I'd have been fired in a New York minute.

Some places are better than others. The grocery store I shop at has excellent employees that are always ready to help with whatever you need.

I've been in a few other stores where I had to look up the store's phone number on my iPad then call them on my cell phone and request someone to come help me in whatever department I was standing in. That's just sad.

We've become entitled, customer and server alike.
Customer service is pretty terrible now, but customers treat employees pretty terrible, too.
People aren't being paid enough to put up with crap.

Big Box meaning ( Wall-mart, Home-Depot, Lowe's, Target,) you get the point

Sad to say, the younger generation doesn't necessarily have the work ethic that once made companies strong and successful. They only do what they have to do - and no more.

I do most of my shopping online so I don't have to deal with people. I've noticed over the years that finding a sales person or cashier is getting harder and harder. But, civility everywhere is going down the tubes!

We live in a dog eat dog world. It's every man for himself. There is no respect and no interest in pleasing customers. It's like this: you take it or you leave it- sort of thing....
    Peace be with you

It's still there - in some places, but it's definitely different than it was say twenty years ago. It's like common courtesy -- it is greatly diminished.

I shop mostly at Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowe's. I've been treated well by all, but then I don't make unreasonable requests. There are a very few others which had been otherwise, to those I never return.

Great question! Many times I am so disappointed in customer service where I shop.....it used to be preached to employees.... I feel that good customer service is so important....happy customers assure you of having your job in my opinion. I don't know if it isn't being taught on the job anymore or if workers just don't care. :(

Get used to it. goernment control means health care, run like the post office, the DMV, and the IRS. only show in town.

When DC decides food prices are too high will we wind up with government food markets? will we have one brand to choose from? What of the auto industry? Will we have a peoples car like Nazi Germany did? the peoples car for those not in government? and big SUVs for those in government?

wake up America. have choice not government only deciding for you.
