Not that I'm aware of, but he's young enough to take it up as a trade.

What Money? The Government is even refusing to cover the full cost of some medical treatments now as well! So the Doctors can't cover those cost out of pocket any longer! So they're running in mass to be Hospital Doctors now instead! That way the Government controlled nanny state Hospitals will have to deal with the Government red tape and pure Bull Sh** instead!

To bad for all of us mean! Take out all the profit in any line of work, and there is NO incentive to stay in that line of work any longer as well!

My wife's OB doctor quit on June 29th.

You don't need a doctor to tell you that - scrap all the regulations on insurance companies and hospitals, apart from the basic contractual agreements, provide a public alternative that's basic, cheap and competes with the private services, and help the poor and ill with medical vouchers. Prices will plummet.

Can you give us a quick rundown of Government efforts that get better results or cost less *AND* still makes a profit better than a private service.

How's that Government "War on Poverty" going? After 30 years, is poverty eradicated now?

the idea of it wouldn't be to make a profit, they would all be separate hospitals that are not-for-profit and basic. It would be funded in the same way as ordinary hospitals. The war on poverty does not and never will work. And look at the Swiss and French systems. One private, one public, both with better results than America.

Your best treatment is the best in the world - and also the most expensive... The rest, not so much...

And does a Mercedes cost the same as a Yugo?
Why don't they cost the same?

Medical care is much the same.

Indeed, that's why you need a cheap public version to cater for those at the lower end of the spectrum...

And why should a doctor be *FORCED* to work for less?
Would *YOU* accept being forced to do the same work for less money at your job today?

Medicare and Medicaid isn't a great idea... I'm thinking more along the lines of the government paying a portion of the costs...
  • Marvelo... Anonymo... 2012/07/05 16:40:13
    Marvelous Wildfire
And why would they *do that*, instead of using the Medicare and Medicaid blueprint?
Government doesn't do anything well, but was the money of the Productive, to buy votes from the willfully non-productive.

Medicare and Medicaid are wasteful and encourage excessive treatment. I think Medical vouchers are a much better idea - the government will pay a certain amount of your costs, and no more...

Obviously. Social programmes are useless, Which is why I support medical and school vouchers - it helps people without government getting involved.

Doctors who refuse to treat Medicare and Medicaid patients should be named and shamed - and run out of town (not tarred and feathered, though).

It's about time patients organized. A Patients' Union.

That's what we had before ObamaKare: Doctors said: "I'll do the job for this much."
The Patient either said: "Sounds good to me!"
Or "Too rich for my blood, I'll go somewhere else." And did.

Could you name some of these "French bigwigs"?

But you have a point: America has an excellent health care system - for the bigwigs.

Which are higher? Medicare overhead costs, or those of the Private "health" Insurance mafia?
  • Marvelo... JCD aka... 2012/07/06 14:51:34

They should be the same, shouldn't they? But Medicare is much higher as I understand.

    Wrong.
  • Marvelo... JCD aka... 2012/07/07 14:44:23
    Marvelous Wildfire
And how would you actually *KNOW*?
The "Private "health" Insurance mafia" are forced by the Federal Government to reveal the truth, or people go to prison.

With Medicare, the Government releases data as it sees fit, in the way it wishes, and calls other costs of Medicare by other names as the Government sees fit to suit the Government.

A single payer system isn't a bad thing, most forms are very good. It's just this one... Free the hospitals and insurance companies from regulation and the government will pay up to a certain amount of your medical costs in voucher form.

That's because you have the best facilities in the world in your very best hospitals - just unfortunate no one can afford them... Your general care is quite mediocre, you get similar results to us for 4x the price...
