The world's largest army...America's hunters!

I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales

in just a handful of states and

arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters

this season in the state ofWisconsin .

Allow me to restate that number:

Over the last several months,Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

More men under arms than inIran .

More than France and Germanycombined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state,
Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and

no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000

who hunted the woods ofPennsylvania and

Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.

And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.

It's millions more. The point?

America
will forever be safefrom foreign invasion

with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting...

it's not just a way to fill the freezer.

It's a matter of national security.

***************************************
That's why all enemies,
foreign and domestic,

want to see us disarmed.

-------------------------------------
Overall it's true,
so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers,

the question would still remain...

what army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens, add to that many of us have enough guns to arm many more if need be.

For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

Great synopsis, that is the reason we have only been "messed with" on our own soil twice. I don't expect the pansy anti-gun lobby to understand, they should should say thank you and go back to saving the whales.

Being able to hit your target. Well, that's the practical definition anyway. Politically speaking, however, it is a totalitarian scheme to incrementally disarm the populace out of fear of the populace, to brainwash the populace into thinking that those "in charge" are trying to control crime, and/or because "leaders" just don't like the idea of an independent populace taking charge of their own affairs.

One thing I cannot stand about the whole gun control/second amendment debate is the correlation to hunting. Know this folks, the second amendment and the right to bear arms has little to nothing to do with hunting. NOTHING. It purpose lies in idea that the citizens' right to arm themselves for defense against tyranny whether foreign or domestic will be impaired.

The analogy of hunters being equivalent of an army is also annoying and lacking merit. Being a soldier is vastly different than being a hunter. Hunting is a solo activity where your quarry is not armed. Being a soldier involves teamwork, dealing with those who are willing and able to shoot back and kill you and also possessing a high level of physical fitness and marksmanship. I have been hunting for over 20 years and am appalled at much of the poor firearms knowledge and marksmanship skills or lack thereof that I see.

People should take their gun ownership rights much more seriously and go to the range more and express their voice when pointless gun control measures are brought up. Believe me folks, the anti-gun crowd is like rust, it never sleeps.

Everyone in my immediate family hunts or have hunted. Shotguns,Rifles and the occasional Bow and Arrow were always at hand. I was born in Wisconsin and remember deer season. It looked like the Minutemen mustering to fight the British along some of those country roads.

Not so sure about the assumption that hunters don’t possess the same skills as soldiers; after all, many of those hunters are prior soldiers; and not to mention, that in almost every case, those hunters are in essence trained and practiced snipers.
