What does death mean to you?

icymore 2009/01/22 08:15:47
Death is a mystery.
Death is the end of one's existence.
Death is just the end of this life; there is existence after death.
Death is the end of suffering.
Death is cruel and unfair.
Death is just a natural part of life.
Death is something I try not to think about.
Death is a thief.
Death is a gift.
Death is a reminder to live life to the fullest.

I don't mean to sound morbid, but its beautiful in its own way. Though it doesn't seem beautiful to the people left in its wake....

Death is alot of all the listed above to many people,
but to me death means I am going home to meet
my Heavenly Father and will get to spend eternity
with him. I am looking forward to death when it is
    my time.

Not really I just LOVE that video haha that's funny. In all reality it's a natural part of life...it happens and when it is your time then you leave. Nothing we can do to change that or alter it. Just live life to it's fullest and make what you can out of the time you have been given.

Both "death is the end of one's existence"and "death is just a natural part of life." As we go through life, we lose loved ones. In that sense, it is a natural part of life. And eventually, death will catch up with all of us, even those who are so afraid of facing death that they deny its reality by convincing themselves that they will live on even after they die.

I also think "Death is a reminder to live life to the fullest" and "Death is just a natural part of life." It's there, it happens to us all. Granted, I would like it to happen at least 80 years in the future but it happens.

I think there is something beyond death, but I am not going to pretend to have any idea of what it is. I DO know that, while we may be reincarnated or what-have-you, this life is unique and should be lived thoroughly. You should live a good life, if possible, do all the things you want to do, not meaning kill everybody or something stupid like that, but see and do everything the world has to offer.

why fear it? i also really like the answer: death is a reminder to live your life to the fullest. we are not promised tomorrow so live as if there isnt one. death to me is many things. death is the 'end' of our life but who is to say it isnt the beginning?

That and it is a mystery. I don't know what will happen, I try not to think about it, it scares me. It would be the absence of everything I know and love. I don't want to stop existing. I want to BE. I believe in after life, there has to be some kind of it. I just hope it is pleasant. It's something that is hard for me to grasp.

All I know is that it hurts like hell when someone else dies, so how much would it hurt for me to die???

Death is the cessation of the natural processes that constitute life. It is a "natural" part of life only in that we have not yet discovered a way to surmount it by maintaining the body's machinery to the point where those processes never cease through simple degradation--the body is a machine like any other (albeit a very complex machine), and can theoretically be maintained like any other. In just the same way that total breakdown is not a necessary part of being a car--cars can be maintained indefinitely through proper maintenance--death is not necessarily a part of life; it is a problem to be overcome, and odds are very good that we'll have a solution to the problem before this century is out.

It would be foolish to think otherwise. If there was nothing after dying, then why the hell are we here in the first place? Live each day as though it were your last, cause one of them might be.
