Pride! If given a choice to stay American and die or convert and live I would die with a smile. Being American is in the heart and soul for me. We are not perfect but we are American.
To preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against enemies, both foreign and domestic first and foremost, and also to enjoy all of the (although now massively infringed upon) Rights and Freedoms that it grants to all American Citizens (Natural-Born and Naturalized alike). And so much more... but it would take entirely too long to write them all down, so let the above suffice.
Freedom. Gratefulness for living in the best country in the world. Gratitude to the men and women who have died to protect my freedoms. Voting, taking part in my government and community.
Beautiful mountains and expansive plains of grain. For the most part, a charitable, God loving nation.
It means being on this part of a planet that is speeding through the galaxy at breathtaking rate. In the final tally I don't think (if there are pearly gates) they will asked where on the planet you came from

And do you know? It is a funny thing but many people in different countries around the world feel the same way about where they were born and live. It has something to do with early bonding or being told how lucky you are over and over again until you have that imprinted on your brain.
Yea, you let me know how that goes, will ya, LOL!!!!!
My god, I've happened upon another disgruntled American who thinks they are a patriot.
Such delusions of grandeur by those who see themselves as above others.
Yes, I do think it is important to maintain some respect for the people who are willing to put themselves through the political grinder for the sake of a democratic government. All the name calling in the world is silly when all you have to do is vote.
According to the Bible..We are to respect those that are in Authority..
Romans 13:1-3 says,
"Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you."
So your saying that being an American is being a Christian. Let's also not forget that authority to rule over people that is "given by god" has been used to oppress people for thousands of years. And if you want to use the bible how about the fact that we are to now to no one but god!
Oh come on! Have you lived in another country or visited one? Sure there are other countries that do well but to say America is hopeless is rather short sided thinking.
Having freedom to exercise different rights depending on which State I am in. A union held together by force. The best deal available but badly in decline.
The land of my ancestors who've stood in it's defense since Breed's Hill to the present, and who have given their lives for it. For all it's flaws, it is still the best ideal of a nation of laws, the most engaged in the world, a giving beacon on a hill to all mankind.
Your ancestors are not all that old when you consider the age and ancestry of many other people and cultures around the world. American is but a tweeny in the great scheme of history. They still have a little too much testosterone.

mom, baseball, apple pie, fourth of july
and all the troops deployed in order for us to enjoy these things

First of all Respect for our Leaders: from our President down the line..
Not to be construed and called a racist, when you do not agree with another's political polices..
To put someone's needs before that of our own..
For us all to pull together in times of tragedy..
To proudly salute our Flag..without being ashamed of our Country..
We should not have to worry what we say, in regards to our words being misconstrued..
For our caring actions should always speak louder, than any words we may utter..
I will not let anyone tell me I cannot pray to my Lord..
Because He comes first in my life..
We do not ask anyone their religious practices, before we save them from harm..
And I would be willing to give up my own life, if it meant that someone else may live..
The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA should be just that UNITED, not DIVIDED..
BECAUSE UNITED WE SHALL STAND..DIVIDED WE SHALL FALL..
With Love..In Christ.. :o)
