I worked with a woman who was a Wiccan and got mad at me if I said God Bless You. So I dropped the God and just said Bless You. 38 years of politeness can not be changed in 5 minutes.

I asked her does her Wiccan priestess or Goddess or whoever bless her? She said yes. I asked why do you care WHERE the blessing comes from as long as you get it? I would not get offended if someone said Allah be with you, or Shalom, or Goddess blah blah to me. I would simply smile, and say "to you as well". I personally take all the blessings I can get. Don't want them? Send em my way honey.

I say bless you, because, then you know, I want whoever you believe in to bless you. Sometimes I say God bless you though. If an Atheist was offended, I would not apologize, I did not know what you were people like that need to just get over it.

I suppose if anyone's offended by it you could always just say, "Gesundheit," which literally means, "I wish you good health." Or just, "Bless you."

Right? Hey, I'm Wiccan and one thing I will say: Christianity serves God to the complete exclusion of the Goddess and a lot of Wiccans serve the Goddess to the near complete exclusion of the God when they should know better. They know that there is supposed to be a BALANCE.

Sadly, though, many Wiccans are jaded by ever-so-lovely crappy treatment from Christians (generally speaking). Sadly, though, many never realize or learn that it's not GOD'S fault that so many of them are assholes. They do that ALL of their own accord. Nevertheless, God ends up getting blamed for it, poor guy. It's amazing how often God becomes the scapegoat for peoples' problems. o_O Effing seriously!

Bottom line: I love God and Goddess both, so whether you say God or Goddess Bless you, hey, I'm a happy camper.

      Blessed Be!

I know what you mean. I hear people say "God doesn't answer prayers cause I asked for so and so". I reply, "so..the answer was NO?" The way I see it, God answers all prayers. Nowhere did He ever say He would always say yes. We would be like spoiled kids whose parents never say no. I feel God has a reason for the no's.

:) That's why we call Him Father. He IS the supreme parent. The no's are sometimes hard to swallow, but without the no, we can't appreciate the yes.

There is a song by Kathy Troccoli that says it better than I can. It is called "How Would I Know". It is so true for me at least. I can't find a video for it, but you might find it on playlist.com or rhapsody. :)

The words were said because people in more superstitious times believed that your soul was vulnerable to attack when you sneezed.
      Atheists are not as superstitious.

I have always said "Gesundheit" because that's what I grew up with. The atheists and theists I kinow are ok with that.

But that would be like you're actually blessing the person yourself.

Do you know why some people say 'God Bless You'?

it's because they believed your soul tried to escape via sneeze.

Besides, have you heard someone say anything besides 'Bless you' or 'God bless you'?
