WHAT DO YOU THINK OF Mr. Romney’s Financial Black Hole, NOT WANTING TO SHARE WITH YOU HIS FINANCIAL WEALTH AND HIS OVERSEAS TAX SHELTERS

BIG BAD JOHN R. 2012/07/11 13:48:35
Yes, Mitt is right, America does not need to know about his financial past.

Mr. Romney has resisted all demands for more disclosure, leading to growing criticism from Democrats that he is trying to hide his fortune and his tax schemes from the public. Given the troubling suspicions about his finances, he needs to release many more returns and quickly open his books to full scrutiny.

The 2010 tax return showed that the blind trust held by his wife, Ann, included a $3 million Swiss bank account that had not been properly reported on previous financial disclosure statements. (The account was closed by the trust manager in 2010 who feared it might become embarrassing for the campaign. He was right.) It also showed that Mr. Romney had used a complex offshore tax shelter, known as a blocker corporation, to shield the investments in his I.R.A. from paying an obscure business tax.

The use of that technique by wealthy taxpayers and institutions, long been blasted by Congressional tax experts as abusive, costs the treasury $1 billion a decade.

The return showed at least 20 investments not previously listed on disclosure reports, but it did not provide enough information to evaluate their size or holdings. Neither the tax return nor other disclosures have revealed the full amounts of the Romneys’ other offshore holdings over the years, including investments in Germany, Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, Australia and Ireland.

I think it's rather humorous that a President who has a multitude of his past issues hidden away, is demanding Romney open up his! We can't even get Obummers college transcripts or his legitimate social security number....laughable isn't it?

I have to be undecided on this one. I wanted Newt Gingrich but his family indiscretions were more important to people than Mitt's financial foibles. Gingrich is a political genius and would have made a great President but people are funny about things. Like Bill Clinton's many rapes of women...no one cared.
Mitt is a very rich man and most very rich people are hesitant to divulge all their financial resources to others. Actually, most everyone is hesitant. I threw darts at him for the Bain Capital scenario. But, even though it was a bad thing for many people, it was legal,-capitalism, the American way. The overseas tax shelters are all legal. Many rich people do this so Uncle Sam doesn't get their money. It's not at all unusual. It doesn't worry me at all. I like Mitt because he is very savvy in the ways of finances and I believe he can bring us out of our depression, just by his knowledge of balancing the books and having spending stay below earnings. His business experience tells him he can't spend more than he takes in,-actually much less if he is to turn a profit and balance the budget. And, he is very rich, so has no incentive to try to get richer himself.

When it comes to certain subjects it seems we have a problem with keeping focus... I don't see Obama's name in this poll. Everyone has their day in court... but a trial by peers only works if you stick to the issues. Lol

America likes its public figures to be transparent.. the more they reveal the more believable... or at least there's a clearer playing field to make your decisions on... so yes Mitt needs to open up... we're concerned about finances...especially now. :-))

As soon as I navigated to this page, I heard a sound bite from Barack Obama saying, "The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are people who have something to hide."

HE HAS NO ROOM TO TALK ABOUT DISCLOSURE OR ABOUT ROMNEY HAVING SOMETHING TO HIDE! That is the acme of blatant, arrogant, in-your-face HYPOCRISY!

LET BARACK OBAMA DISCLOSE THE TRUTH ABOUT WHERE HE WAS BORN, AND ABOUT THE "FAST AND FURIOUS" OPERATION, AND THEN MAYBE (i said "MAYBE", which also means "and maybe not") I'LL START GIVING A DAMN ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT MITT ROMNEY HAS A SWISS BANK ACCOUNT!

Everyone knows that if a foreigner invests in your company Thayer the monies are held in off shore accounts and the profits if any are taxable.
The actual off shore money will come into this country over a nine year period.

When the lying Obama decides to release all his taxes and his hidden educational transcripts I'll be happy, the man with no past is hiding something and that's obvious. Romney on the other hand has turned over some of his tax returns and in my opinion what he does with money he earned honestly is his business, I trust him more than I'll ever trust Obama. It amazes me that the greatest amount of wealth and wealth cronyism exists within the Liberal camps, yet they are the first to point fingers at others. Al Gore invests in Fisker, then Fisker is given government loans. Hmmm. No one was speaking about how Gore has 3 "off-shore companies".,...no one was speaking about how Obama, Gore, et al formed the Chicago Climate Exchange (poised to steal your money via carbon taxation) and how that corporation is a London based corporation! Hmmm...and what about our Jobs Czar (Emmett of General Electric)...opening up new facilities in Canada and paying NO corporate taxes!

Romney does not shelter his money, he has stated that he has paid all U.S. taxes on all monies that may be deposited in other countries. He is not setting up manufacturing facilities off-shore, nor employing foreign workers (inasmuch his company is a consulting firm).

Now, go check what all those associated with Obama are doing...post THAT report! You might want to also see how your tax-dollars are supporting them as well.

The funny thong is, there is evidence and speculation that he is hiding his returns not because of overseas investments, but because he is hiding evidence of felony voter fraud. If that is the case, his tax returns will remain hidden, no matter how much it hurts at the polls. Better to lose an election than to go to prison.

And the precedent for this is that Prez. Obama's campaign reneged on the public funding for campaigns as he promised in 2008 AND his campaign has avoided AVS systems that would verify where credit card contributions come from which is not only a security feature, but a method of insuring that illegal foreign funds were not used in campaigns. Frankly I am far more worried about a politician like Obama who has repeatedly used fraud to gain control that someone who is protecting their personal wealth. If you don't think the Obama's aren't stashing campaign money personally you are naive.

If you are a millionaire, it would be financially smart to diversify your savings.

My father-in-law lived in three countries that underwent national financial crises.
France when the franc was devalued to less than a third of its value, and Venezuela during the 1940's revolution and grew up in the depression.

Anyone who can do it, would be dumb not to.
The fact that Romney might have savings in foreign accounts testifies to his intelligence and prudence.
Anyone objecting is not financially savvy . . . or just jealous.

Romney should release his tax returns when Obama unseals:

    Columbia University transcripts
    Columbia thesis paper
Campaign donor analysis requested by 7 major watchdog groups
    Harvard University transcripts
    Illinois State Senate records
    Illinois State Senate schedule
Law practice client list and billing records/summary
Locations and names of all half-siblings and step-mother
Medical records (only the one page summary released so far)
    Occidental College Transcripts
    Parent’s marriage Certificate
    Record of baptism
    Selective Service registration records
Schedules for trips outside of the United States before 2007
    Passport records for all passports
    Scholarly articles
    SAT and LSAT test scores
Access to his grandmother in Kenya
List of all campaign workers that are lobbyists
    Punahou grade school records
Noelani Kindergarten records are oddly missing from the the State of Hawaii Department of Education.
    Obama 1964 Divorce Papers – 13 Pages – Missing Pg 11

I'm sorry, I forget that your brain cell wasn't capable of making the connection between tax returns which are being asked for because of a presidential election and the fact there is another candidate guilty of spending over a million dollars to purposely cover up far more information . . . since you have no other brain cell for it to connect to.

Until the Convention, Mitt is the 'presumed' Republican Candidate. Giving the Obama team longer than necessary to frame and spread vicious lies and distortions would be falling into their trap, while they continue to hide and shield Obama's college transcripts (which might reveal issues... not the same ones Liz Warren has, but others), or explain how he got a Connecticut SS number and not one from a State Barack lived in. This is a distraction from failed policies and poor leadership in the current WH. Once he has the nomination, he can continue to release IRS returns as he did as recently as 2010, with an estimate for 2011. Many of us will find his wealth quite high and finances complex, but not illegal or improper.
