It is about time that every elected Senator and member of the House hold town hall meetings to find out what the electorate wants. So far they are doing what they want. I suggest everyone out there vote all of them out in the next election. That is what I did in the last one. I am a lifelong Democrat but I voted Republican in the election at the beginning of the month. I plan to vote everyone who votes for this health care bill and any other crazy Obama program out of office. Obama may be booksmart but his lack of achievements, accomplishments, experience and his Communist ideology are destroying our country and taking away our rights. Fight back America! Let your voices be heard!!! Speak out, write emails, write letters, protest, contact your Senators and Representatives and let them know we are against this crazy, dangerous health care plan, Cap and Trade, etc.

Our economy is in the toilet and everything he is doing is making things alarmingly worse!

Debate is about listening to the other side. Not overshouting persons on the side, carrying guns to the debate sites shuts down the voice of the people on the other side, Using signs depicting our elected officials is NOT debate. Debate is using the strength of yur argument to win adherents to your side of the debate, not using scare tactics, and demagoguery.

Unfortunately, in certain parts of the country some people completely shut down debate by shouting slogans. I strongly support debating ideas, and hope that isn't permitted to happen in the future.

Debate is always best for a better, stronger and inclusive society...as long as the debate is civil. The screamers only cause is to prevent well thought out inclusive policy that grows our society. They want to protect "something" but whatever that something is apparently does not have enough substance to be openly debated in support of their screaming style of "debate".

Healthy debate is healthy. Screaming matches are not. Given the insane atmosphere so many made of the last town hall meetings its obvious that town hall meetings on such an issue as this would be a disaster. Until the extremeists on both sides of the political spectrum grow up, I am afraid that town hall meetings on national issues are a waste of time.

If inteligent humans can see how the insuranse lobby is SO unnessesary in the healthcare industery, and how they are the largest Mafia in the USA, I think town Hall debates would serve a purpose. When will people wake up from their slumber and take notice of their rights as citizens of this country?

When they have no rights left which is happening right now before our very eyes. It seems far in the future but our country is broke and plans are being made right now to eliminate as many dependent people as possible. Who better to do it than "Big Brother"? We have murdered innocent babies by the millions and now our Sr. citizens are growing by the number so if we give govt. the authority to limit medical care, Well there you have it. No care no Sr. citizen. Government makes NOTHING better, never has and never will. We had better start thinking before our Ass is in the sling

This medical insurance crap is just the opposite of what we as sheep are being sold. Instead of providing health care for us all health care is being reduced for us all even now. When the govt. gets control nobody will have medical care but the most helpless like unborn and the Sr. citizens are history. We will each get to be Sr. citizens hopefully but not if we give away our right now. NOTHING FROM NOTHING GETS NOTHING! and there is nothing left of our tax money.

I'm a republican and I was totally angered by the way the republican party turned the town hall meetings into a mockery of lies and totally irrelivant mobs. If the republicans and the democrats can't get along or work together at all, we'll just have to vote all democrats or all republicans in at each election. Their arguing and bickering and back-stabbing is as disgrace to the human race.

Special interests and insurance companies are spreading lies and trying to scare seniors into opposing health reform that will help us -- just so they can protect their own profits. It's shameful.

My name is Connie, and I'm a senior and a volunteer with Organizing for America in Florida. I'm working to set the record straight, so I wanted to share with you a list of reasons reform will help seniors.

I've already emailed this to folks I know, and printed it out to hand around -- please do the same! We all need to get the truth out to as many friends and family as possible to fight these shameful lies.

President Obama's plan for health insurance reform is good for seniors, because reform...

... will STRENGTHEN Medicare. Reform will improve Medicare's quality of care by cutting down on paperwork, focusing on wellness and prevention, and rewarding doctors for the care they provide instead of how many procedures they do. This all adds up to more choices and better care.

... will NOT cut our Medicare benefits. President Obama has clearly said, "nobody is talking about cutting Medicare benefits." And AARP agrees that reform will simply eliminate billions in giveaways via the Medicare Advantage program that boost insurance company profits -- but don't help folks like us.

And AARP agrees that reform will simply eliminate billions in giveaways via the Medicare Advantage program that boost insurance company profits -- but don't help folks like us.

... will SAVE us money. Reform will close the doughnut hole in Medicare Part D that's costing people so much money for prescription drugs, and eliminate co-pays for preventative care like cancer screenings and immunizations.

... will SAVE Medicare in the long run. If we do nothing, costs will keep rising and the Medicare trust fund will be at risk of going bust within a decade. Reform will save Medicare from bankruptcy and ensure we get the care we need for years to come.

... will HELP our loved ones. I have three children with pre-existing conditions. I live in fear that I will have to mortgage everything to pay for their care if they lose their jobs, and can't get coverage. Reform will extend coverage for young people, stop insurance companies from charging women more or cutting care when you need it most. And most importantly to me, reform will make it illegal to deny coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

In so many ways, reform will help every American struggling with our health insurance system -- especially seniors.

But insurance companies that want to protect their profits and partisan attack groups that want to weaken President Obama at any cost are spreading rumors to scare folks like us into opposing the reform we need. It's outrageous.

Each of us probably knows at least one person who is uncertain about reform. So it's up to us to let our friends and neighbors know that reform will help them, not hurt them.

You can start by forwarding this email to everyone you know today!

It's so important to get the truth out about reform.

The clue is "Nobody's talking about. That's right, nobody's talking about it but what doctor do you know is going to see any more patients that is necessary for him to make his money from being rewarded by seeing fewer? Who is going to judge the care they give? Why another doctor, of course. Education about taking care of ourselves by knowing what's in our food, the medications that are killing instead of helping but making drug companies richer and richer. It's time for us all to look at what we can do ourselves instead of looking for the magic fix. There is none.

We do need reform and NO we don't need take over! Its one thing to help those that legitimately need help with health care - its another thing to take away our choices and the ability to choose. We are supposed to have freedom of choice - its why America was founded. But to keep America's freedoms we have to be willing to fight for those freedoms and choose to allow freedom of choice!

Barry says: "THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benefits you get."

Insurance companies already do this. So what's your point? I think that anything, including these health care reforms, that can break the stranglehold of insurance companies on us all and on the (low) quality and (high) cost of health care is good.

The flaws and details can be worked out later. Break the insurance industry and Big Pharmaceuticals down to size and get our congressmen/women out of their pockets.

Wishful thinking! Who will monitor the Govt. Committee. Different is not better and I can attest to that. I changed my doctor first to a controlling other one and then to another who could take all the time needed to ask and write but never reviewed what had been written. I went back to my old one and practically begged to be taken back. This one does not have as much time but always knows what I have been treated for and actually reads what is in the file.

What we all need is to take control of our own health as much as possible and stop looking for a PILL that will fix us. A pill to make periods less days, A pill so we can get rid of fat and still stuff our faces and sit on our fatty acids, a pill for this and a pill for that and then a pill to remove the side effects of the pills. Govt. helps them who help themselves the others they let take pills that will eliminate them sooner. Enough time wasted on here, I am off to the GYM!

I'm sorry, but it is your argument that is just wishful thinking.

There used to be a day when people could afford their own health care by carefully saving money. That day is long past. Almost half of all bankruptcies in my own state last year were the direct result of unpayable medical expenses.

Both as a society and as individuals we are way past an "everyone responsible for themselves" approach. Nowadays, everyone must either have insurance, no matter how much insurance companies charge for the coverage and contingent upon whether they will accept you or not, or not have insurance in which case we are all paying for their emergency care anyway.

This serious and large scale health care reform is a necessary step at this point of our society's history.
