As the old adage goes, "nothing is certain but death and taxes." And we hate to bring up bad news, but the latter part of that certainty is almost upon us. April 15, known for nothing more than "tax day," is almost upon us. It's the day we're all supposed to get our paperwork together, submit our documents, and only hope for a substantial amount of cash back in return.

But hey, there has to be a bright side to doing your taxes, right? Are you looking forward to a big refund? Or maybe you just like knowing that you're performing your patriotic duties as a U.S. citizen. Whatever the case, we'd love to know more about your opinion on tax time. So, take our six-question Tax Survey. Hey, it's better than filling out those dreadful documents, right?

I was thinking of taking the family out to dinner or something, maybe pizza and a beer, that is... if we can afford the gas for the car. Fuel has gotten so darn expensive since Obama has become President.

Are you kidding? My business made a profit of 37,000 and that profit is added onto my income. In reality, I didn't have usage of that money. But, I can take a draw now and then. I had to pay 13,700 in federal and state income taxes this year. glad you re happy

We need lower taxes, not a refund....time for govt employees especially elected ones to join the real world and figure out their retirement instead of taking my tax dollars so they can live at 75% - 100% of their wage....WO WORKING!!! No more entitlements! Live like the rest of us.

We've been working over the years to get as closely as possible in withholding and quarterly payments to have our tax bill/refund come out to zero at year's end.

We came closer this year again. Why in the world would we want to have the feds (or the State) collect more in advance than we owe, use the money themselves and not pay us interest on any excess? That's just silly.

Oh, and our returns were filed by the end of the second week of February. A Very Good Thing, as fraudulent filings claiming tax returns based on identity theft have more than tripled over the last two years.

The way the parasites down in DC are printing money with nothing to back it up, you'd best spend any refund as fast as you can before it's value completely evaporates.

In spite of our income being cut 55%, we will end up paying money to the IRS. Because we pay our bills, we cashed in IRA's to pay off loans. Because of the IRS penalties, we end up owing money for doing the right thing. Add that to the two hundred less dollars per month I am getting courtesy of Obamacare mandates AND the news that our insurance premiums may go up 20%, and frankly Obama can Stuff This Economy.

Getting a refund from the IRS says that you deducted too much in the first place. Any tax specialist will tell you that a zero balance or a small payment is the right way to go. If you get a large refund it means that you are loaning money to the federal government at 0 interest for over a year. You on the other hand had to buy the necessities of life with what's left. If you have been getting large refunds, reassess your claims and adjust them so you take home more. Why should you suffer for nothing.

Don't forget about the Earned Income Tax Credit... we own our own businesses (don't pay in during the year), and have a 1 year old daughter. Thanks to her, we still got money back - quite a large chunk.

I'm not saying it's right, because we didn't pay a dime in taxes..... but that's the system.

Save it, that is where it actually started out in my savings (retirement). So it is going back there. This is a first for me, if I hadn't really and I mean really over paid so much over the year I wouldn't have a return.

My employer doesn't withhold for State, so my federal refund will be posting my state taxes.
