It's not about love because you don't need marriage for love, you just love. If I hadn't been allowed to marry my husband we'd still be together and in love. The marriage license doesn't guarantee monogamy or love.
My ex-husband had a long term relationship with a younger man that put him so far in debt despite his high income and while they didn't get married they were so legally intertwined that they essentially had to divorce because of all their joint property. If you want to see an ugly split, watch two gay men go at it. Our divorce with a child involved was child's play in comparison. He even admits it. Now he's got a boytoy who's 21 and he's 58. He works 60 hours a week and the boy and his other boys play around and drive expensive cars. They are all sluts.
PLEASE watch this video, I know Olbermann is a liberal, but put away your politics for 6: 29, please?--he makes a very good point here
Let's not get the ideas of love and marriage all mixed up. No one is saying you can't love someone or that a piece of paper is going to keep you together and monogamous.
If you're a Christian homosexuality is a sin. It's never been and never will be a sin to be black. He's mixing apples and oranges and his elitist rant doesn't change that.
This is the kind of thing that appeals to the liberal, all heart and absolutely no brain involved.
the reason they can't marry all comes from the bible, what if a gay couple is non-religious?
This is what happens when you put lawyers in charge. The one thing that is hard to contest is that the majority of society doesn't want gay marriage. It has failed in every attempt when left to the people. It was the black and hispanic vote that took down Prop 8, not the churches or the white man.
Oh, and I forgot to say that if gay people aren't religious, which they really aren't, why again would marriage be important? It's not like they're against premarital sex
there are other things to do at gay clubs besides hook up, they drink, dance, socialize, just like us straight folks
You're stretching this out into something that it's not. My point is that the gay lifestyle has very little to do with monogamy no matter how many people I've had tell me that "their gay friends" are all monogamous. I've found that not to be the case but of course it doesn't matter to me.
I'm all for civil unions. Even in the UK they rejected gay marriage and they have civil unions. If you want to legally join yourself to another I think that's fine. I do think it's just a attempt to make society accept homosexuality to a far greater degree than anything else.
*thinks* Nope...
