resident Barack Obama is expected to call on Congress to pass a one-year extension on the Bush-era tax cuts for people earning less than $250,000 a year.

A White House official said Obama will make the announcement Monday at the Rose Garden, surrounded by working people.

In addition, a campaign official said the campaign will "amplify the president's message on middle-class tax cuts" by hosting a series of events in battleground states all week across the country.

In Las Vegas, for example, local elected officials will discuss Obama's efforts to fight for the middle class, the campaign official said. In Colorado, Aspen Mayor Mick Ireland, Colorado Democratic Party Chair Rick Palacio and state Sen. Gail Schwartz will hold a press conference to discuss the contrasting economic visions of Obama and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

On Sunday, a top adviser for Obama's re-election campaign said the president was entirely dedicated to ending the so-called Bush tax cuts for the wealthy at the end of this year.

"He is 100% committed to it," Robert Gibbs said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Obama signed a bill in 2010 to extend the Bush-era tax cuts, citing the need for economic stimulus at the time, but has since vowed he would not permit another extension.

The tax breaks are set to expire in what's known as the "fiscal cliff," a package of spending cuts and removal of tax breaks that will take place on January 1 if Congress fails to act. In total, they could add up to $7 trillion.

Tax breaks that would end include the Bush tax cuts, middle class protection from the Alternative Minimum Tax and more than 50 "temporary" tax breaks for individuals and businesses that have been on the books for years.

This is how it's going to be so we better get used to it. Obama, surrounding himself with salt of the earth working class folk railing against the "rich" who don't pay their "fair share." Of course, those same working class people are going to be slammed in 2014 when Obama will refuse to renew the Bush tax cuts if he gets another term. But for the moment, Obama is a real working class hero and will stoke the fires of class warfare for all that it's worth.

More wishy-washy, weak-kneed, campaign BS to try and reclaim middle America, especially those blue collar white folk.

Ain't gonna happen because there's a handful of Dem Senators up for re-election that will be siding with the GOP on this one.

Doesn't matter though. The 113th Congress will be visiting this during their first week and extend the full package, retroactive to Dec. 31, 2012.

More of his underhanded tactics to buy votes in Nov, the extension lasts for only a year, enough time to try to get his lying ass back into the White House where it DOES NOT belong. A few weeks ago the despicable man bought the Latino vote with his partial amnesty plan. Everyone knows he can't win on his record of failure so anything goes. NOBAMA in 2012.

America is not "good enough" for Obama. America is too cruel and unfair. So, Obama will simply need to take over the United States using the Democrat Party. Obama will determine right and wrong, good and bad, healthy and unhealthy, moral and immoral, ethical and unethical. Obama believes he knows our lives better than we do. He wants to control us. He wants to "change" us. He wants to "transform" us. Obama believes he knows what is best for us. Well, not really. Obama is a liar..

I don't recall Obama ever wanting to help out the middle class; nor anyone else, for that matter. Now, he's talking about raising taxes on the wealthy. I'll never understand why the wealthy ever contributed to his campaign, in the first place. I hope he's out of the White House, on January 20th, if not sooner!
