We Are Not Arguing Over Chicken

Deliciously Melicious 2012/07/29 04:53:12

"When gays get so angry about a chicken sandwich, it is because Chick-fil-A has given around $5 million to fight to discriminate against us. When we praise brave Eagle Scouts who give up their badges in protest of the Boy Scouts of America's prejudice, it's not about scoring political points; it's because there are kids in dens who are being taught to believe that they are less than equal. When we rant about the pastor who preaches that gays should be thrown into a concentration camp, we scream out of fear. And our fears are justified -- in the last seven days, a lesbian in Nebraska was carved with a knife, a gay man in Oklahoma was firebombed, and a girl in Kentucky was kicked and beaten -- her jaw broken and her teeth knocked out -- while her assailants allegedly hurled anti-gay slurs at her.

I am your coworker, your frat brother, your cousin, your neighbor. And I am watching as you defend institutionalized discrimination.

Eat all the chicken sandwiches you want. But, realize that behind this debate are real people -- kids like the girl in Kentucky who fear for their safety, women like Sally Ride's widow who are denied their spouse's Social Security benefits. Even if it doesn't seem like it, we want nothing more than to leave behind the angry debates on Facebook and on Capitol Hill. There are, after all, a lot of pictures of One Direction and grandkids we would rather be posting, sharing and 'liking.'"

I think that in the next 10-20 years. Anti-gay people will look like racists of the past (and I suppose present).

If I want to boycott or protest a business I am free to do so. What I don't want is a politician speaking for me or the entire populous of a city. What? Freedom of speech until you don't like the speech? Oh, the irony!!

Actually... Freedom of Speech only gives you the right to say it, not to be free from the consequences of said speech.

You are free to make a death threat against the president, but you will also probably be arrested as a consequence. You are free to call your boss a douche, but again, you might lose your job.

A Mayor speaking for an entire populous is a dangerous thing. Perhaps you need a nanny but, I don't. You know what's really funny? Louis Farakhan was welcomed into Chicago 3 days after the
Chick-Fil-A thing. Louis Farakhan is an orthodox Islamist who spoke out clearly against Obama & gay marriage. He thinks it's "an abomination." He is working with the communities youth & was invited by Mayor Emanuel. He's also hates Jewish people obviously. (Islam) Rahm Emanuel could care less about gay people. As for dealing with consequences of your words, yes you deal with consequences. However, politicians or government does not have the right to "block" you from expanding your business as the Mayor stated. It's unconstitutional....that's the problem. That and the fact that he's a hypocrite. Chick-Fil-A has had a boom in business since this all started. Keep those consequences coming!

Domestic gay terrorists; you have to think like they think, agree with them or be punished. Gays are not denied ONE right; they may vote, they may have free speech as Chick-fil-A does, they may have the right to a speedy trial; freedom of or from religion; the right to bear arms; they are not denied any rights any more than anyone of us.

Before I even bother to read the other opinions, I am secure in the knowledge that the self appointed politicos have blamed each other. Unfortunately business can support all sorts of moronic causes, the only thing that we can do is boycott.

The owner of Chick-fil-A did NOTban gays; did not hit a gay; did not ask a gay to leave; he simply stated his view on marriage. The gay gestapo is getting out of hand.

I haven't changed my purchasing habits simplybecause the militant gay lobby is stealing publicity. Every Italian owned pizzaria or jewish owned deli are owned by those who embrace traditional marriage butnever been on TV about it; nobody is boycotting them are they? No just stealing some publicity and the MSM shows up at CFA to show 6 protestors instead of 200 people in line all the way down the mall and out the door; LOL !!!
