(Kabul) -- Seven people are dead following a cargo plane
crash near the Afghan capital city of Kabul. The U.S.-run plane went
down shortly after takeoff today from the Bagram air base. The Taliban
claimed responsibility for the crash, but NATO officials say there are
no reports of insurgent activity in the area. There's no word yet on
the nationalities of the seven victims.

Saturday, four U.S. service members were killed when their surveillance
aircraft went down in southern Afghanistan. Officials cited bad weather
as the cause of that crash.

The Taliban is taking credit for what is clearly a classic example of a tail-heavy CG (most likely a cargo loading & pilot error)? Next week... the Taliban takes credit for a fat man's heart attack.

nah, I don't think terrorism on this one...sorry, it looks like pilot error...no forward speed, almost flying straight up...something has to give and that's called lift.....that was almost a vertical climb...now the question is "was the pilot ordered to fly like that?"

I see a perfect storm of three issues here:

    1. High altitude takeoff (mile high desert equals thin air).
    2. Rearward cg (this airplane acts like it is tail heavy).
    3. Attempting a "combat takeoff" in a heavily (and possibly improperly loaded) aircraft in high altitude/thin air conditions.

Maybe a cargo strap came loose on board and something slid to the back, but this looks like human error all the way.

No forward motion. Can't fly without that. Well done!

    motion fly
