Was Walmart Right to Kick Woman Out for Wearing a String Bikini?

Maybe you've considered going to the store in something less-than-prudent on an exceptionally hot day -- perhaps a too-short skirt or an especially revealing top.

Just don't go to Walmart if you plan on finishing your spree in the outfit.

Sandy McMillan had to learn the hard way.

The Oregon resident decided to go to her local Walmart in a string bikini top on Sunday because of the 90 degree weather, and ended up with her face (and her impressive bikini bod) all over the news.

sunday 90 degree weather ended impressive bikini bod news

But she didn't get pegged for dress code violation. She says an employee told her to put a shirt on because she was violating "health codes."

McMillan's sister, Karla Vogt, told KVAL News, "I was horrified. I am embarrassed. We just walked in, straight over to the clothing. It's wrong. If you don't like the way someone looks, don't look at them."

McMillan added, "I hadn't done anything obnoxious or outlandish."

KVAL reached out to Walmart to get their official stance on the issue.

A spokesperson for the company claims McMillan was actually approached by an employee because she was verbally abusing customers, and that she was not even asked to leave.

Despite their claim, they still apologized.

"We can understand her frustration," the spokesperson said. "It was not our intent to offend the customer, and we have apologized to her. We have also reinforced with our associates our expectations of how to handle these matters."

No shirt, no shoes, no service. Then again, it says she was kicked out for violating health code... I wonder what health code she was violating? Not wearing a shirt isn't going to give somebody ecoli.

There needs to be a minimum dress code for public places. I would have left the store had she been there. And yes, I think it was obnoxious.

String bikinis belong at the beach or at a strip club.

And the men should have shirts and shoes, IMO. Even at Walmart.

Does she have no shame, if she went shopping putting a cool short over her ugly body would of helped. She seems to of gone out of her way to appear disgusting with all those tatoo's and no hair. Before I am blasted I have nothing against tatoo but at least show some moderation

Whats wrong with a little decency when shopping , I dont want to shop and look at or smell or listen to a constant cursing of low class trash . They should be able to behave and act like a decent human being for the amount of time they share their screwed up self with the rest of society outside of their caves. Enough of this appeasing of idiots

That is the problem. Many people no longer care. Common sense and decency lacks in American Society and that is pathetic.

I believe we have better things to worry about. If someone wants to throw a pissy fit about a lady wearing a bikini top to Wal Mart then more power to them but I don't have time for that bs.

I am going to have to say yes... egads... you do not have to dress up like your going to a ball, but for crying out loud... can you at least put on SOME clothes? Something?

Also... not sure if anyone can answer this, but if so, please tell me why the hell do people with tattoos, have to wear clothes to show them off all the time? I mean... it can be 35 degrees outside will wear a tank top if that will show off the tat's, or a very short shirt if they are on the lower back or belly, or like a man who came into a steak house last week for dinner, wearing only short shorts and a tank top so he could show his entire body covered.

Ick... if you like body art... show it off to your friends who like the same, but most of us do not like it, and to try and have a nice dinner sitting near someone covered from head to toe in tattoos... and doing everything they can to show them off to everyone else... well.....that is just plain bad taste.

I would not want to go to Walmart and something like that in the produce isle. I would turn my child's face away and leave. That is what Walmart was protecting itself from. They have a right after putting the 'no shoes, no shirt, no service' sign at the door to deny her entrance. She obviously has no shirt. End of story.
