Was the Supreme Court's Decision on Arizona's Immigration Law Appropriate or Unjust?

The Supreme Court has finally come to a decision concerning Arizona's controversial immigration laws, put into effect in 2010. They struck down most aspects of the law, chiefly those dealing with how illegal immigrants are punished. However, the Court upheld the most controversial part of law -- the part that requires officers to check immigration status at lawful stops under reasonable suspicion.

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote, "The national government has significant power to regulate immigration. Arizona may have understandable frustrations with the problems caused by illegal immigration while that process continues, but the state may not pursue policies that undermined federal law." Do you think the Supreme Court handled the case appropriately? Or did it use its power unfairly?

It's appropriate that they check, but unjust that they aren't just dumped back out into the desert. Every dollar we spend mollycoddling illegals is a dollar that could be spent on an American in need. Why don't we treat illegals like they are illegal?

Our Founding Fathers intended the State's rights to trump Federal rights. Being students of history, they feared the tyranny of a powerful concentrated central government. The court got it wrong...not totally, but mainly. When are we going to defend our nation like every other country in the world?

On a different note...I was born when JFK was president. Does anyone remember a Commander in Chief that liked suing the states he has sworn to defend more than B. Hussein O.?

I guess when it rains, and he can't play his 100th golf game, he gets bored, throws a dart at the map, and files a lawsuit against whatever state the dart stuck in.

    He makes me sooooo proud.

If that is how they voted then we have to accept it.
What is unjust is what the Obama administration has done after the ruling since they left in place the meat of the bill. They won't help Arizonia enforce the law and they set up a hot line to get people to call in with frivilous civil rights complaints. So what are they going to try if they lose the health care ruling?
This president thinks he is an emperor and not a president. He has got to go.

It is not a state matter and never will be. All facets of immigration are federal in nature. The SCOTUS was correct in striking down most of the Arizona law.

Appropriate, but by not ruling the entire law legal reduces it all to band-aid status. Close the borders now, any, and all, here illegally must go and the sooner the better. No exceptions you are either legal or illegal. This kind of action will also have the side benefit of curtailing the illegal votes for obumbo in November.

Have you ever heard of an anti-racism campaign that targeted any group other than White People as “racists”?
All you anti-Whites ever do is make excuse after excuse to turn every White country into a non-White country.
All you anti-Whites ever do is rationalize and justify White children living as minorities in every country their ancestors built.
All you anti-Whites ever do is justify genocide of White children, A future without White children.
    Anti-racism is a codeword for anti-White.

Arizona has to protect itself. the Obama administration is acting like Chicago thugs now and witholding federal database info regarding illegal immigrants rolls and only taking calls about previously convicted felons, those who have previously been deported and nobody else!

I can assure you, this is not over. The Supreme Court threw Obama a bone because I think they are going to strike down the Affordable Health Care Act. I think they "whimped out" but, at least the most important part of the law was allowed - "you're gonna need those stinkin' papers.

Yes, I am very sorry that I was wrong. Justice Roberts did Obama a political favor, but he screwed the rest of us. There are many good provisions in the Health Care Bill but at a cost the country will not be able to afford. Many of the provisions are long overdue and could possibly help me in the short term, but the overall effect on the nation's economy and on job creation will make it a huge negative for the majority of Americans.

    Otherwise, KMA

The Government needs to step up and do something about our Borders! Our Borders are a gateway for anyone wanting to do harm to our people.
The people of Arizona need relief from all the consequences due to our poris Borders!
This Country(all States) came together on 9/11. Why don't all the States get together and show our support for Arizona!?
