Was the 10 billion dollar expense of the Large Hadron Collider near Geneva a waste of money since its likely the "god particle" doesn't exist?

the god particlew is very likely to exsist, and even if it turns out that it doesn't for some god knows why reason, we have discovered plenty of other things from it.

is it worth the 10 billion that it cost?, seems like that would build a lot of bridges and roads

yeah, but there are plenty of other programs and projects we could have cut.

not sure it returned that in value yet, i would not be against if it was more privately funded, maybe soros would do that,

eh, well now we say "discovering sub atomic paticles is stupid, and meaningless" but i think they may have said the same thing when we discovered molecules are not single units.

No, it doesn't matter if the God Particle exists or not. It will continue to shed more light on our understanding of the universe. Even better than that (sort of) it is shedding light on climate change. CERN's research has suggested that cosmic rays can effect climate, something thought but not proven before.

Yes...I do think any means of advancing scientific knowledge is worth the expense. After all, look at what NASA gave us...just through their researches into micro-electronic technology.

Sorry, didn't mean to say yes I think it is a waste, but No...because everytime we advance scientific learning, it is not a loss.

partly true, would it be worth 10 billion of tax dollars?
