Was Sarah Palin Right to Criticize Obama's Support of Legalized Same Sex Marriage?

It strikes me as a bit odd that Sarah Palin of all people, would choose to criticize Obama for his recent statements supporting the possibility of legalizing marriage between same sex couples. I think it may be fair to say that Palin does not have any future intentions of running for the highest office in the country, any time in the future. If Palin should choose to run for political office again, her staunch stance against legalizing same sex marriage, may very well come back to haunt her, in the way of votes. Sometimes it is better to think before you speak however, some people are more interested in creating a stir and garnering attention. Do you think that Palin was right to publicly denounce Obama's stance on the topic of same sex marriage legalization?
