Was Obama's Support for Same-Sex Marriage a Political Move or an Honest Opinion?

I believe he was being honest about it, and did in fact have an evolution towards being for marriage equality. After all, he did repeal DADT, so why wouldn't his stated opinion on same-sex marriage be honest?

He starts off saying, "for me personally," obviously it was an honest opinion, but it was probably also a political move. There's much controversy over the issue and it could of ended up like many other problems; violence and angry rallies. Now the church just has to worry about this because same-sex marriage isn't allowed in at least Christian churches. They'll let you get married, but not in **their church and if you do, you're apparently going to hell. They believe that marriage should only be held between a man and a woman. It's baloney! I don't care if it is my religion, I love it dearly, but this is our one flaw.

Purely Political without a doubt...The sheer timing of it and thefact that it was complete reversal of his previous announcements on this and of course changing his position with only six months to go before the election......He definately got caught ot proper.

The questioner has the devil in him tying to trick Obama into saying something he does not want to say even as the religious humans tried to trick Jesus. I see an honest guileless Obama.

I think it more that the Devil has tricked you into thinking Obama is honest and guileless. The man unequivocally stated that he believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

I saw that video. The human asking the questions sounded like a religious man tempting Jesus. Obama is trying to promote peace with the gay. Sounds like you are against it. Obama is balanced in his thinking. I am for Obama because of this.

I am not against gays. My cousin who is gay has been shunned by his parents and siblings. I have offered to let him live with me and help him - like a good Christian should. I have no plans to thump him with a Bible. I don't do that - my method of evangelicalism is to live by example.

Comparing Obama to Christ is blasphemous in my opinion. The man is not balanced but being politically expedient. The man questioning Obama sounds like someone trying to get him to quit equivocating and give a straight answer, which he finally does by saying he believes marriage is between one man and one woman.

Now that he is falling in the polls, he all of a sudden "evolves" to a new opinion. It is politically pandering at it's most disgusting.

If humans were godly the question would not even be brought up. Do you see Jesus drilling a human with questions like that or do you see religions humans like the scribes, and Pharaess doing that? You don't know what is good in the KJV to tell anyone to lift anyone up. You conceal the loving truth because you don't know the loving truth. I find humans against the zoosexuals use that word disgusting a lot. Do you see Jesus using that word?

I never claimed humans were Godly. I said Obama should not be likened to Christ. The person questioning Obama was not trying to trick him but get him to give an unequivocal answer.

I would be more willing to believe Obama truly changed his mind if he had done it before an election year. He is the one who attended a church for over 20 years that preached hate but quit when he decided to run for President and his preacher was becoming detrimental to his campaign. He is known for changing his mind when it is politically expedient.

If Jesus persecuted I would say you are right, but he did not persecute anyone using man made laws. Jesus is also as an anti stone thrower. Deny that.

Jesus drove them out. Jesus gets a lot of slack for doing what he did. He did not strike a single human. When you drive sheep you do not strike them. What was Jesus to do let the thievery in his temple continue? Seems to me you are favoring the temple thieves, bad mouthing the one who cleansed the temple.

What conversation are you a part of? I never said Jesus struck them. All I said was Jesus did persecute them. Nor did I imply in any fashion that I favored the thieves in the temple. I am a devout follower of Christ.

Jesus did not persecute anyone. That is an accusation. He was purifying his temple. Robbers, and thieves will not be in his kingdom. Those humans misrepresented him. I get humans accusing Christ of using that whip all the time. Accusers of Christ are not of Christ. How can they be? Claim to be a follower of Christ, and side with be accuser, and not be what you claim.

If you believe Jesus did not strike whoever that is a good thing. Many talk of that incident thinking Jesus did.

I fear all Governments have some level of corruption. Even when the Head of Government is honest, there is always a structure of corruption surrounding him. It is sad, but true.

I see honesty in his face. I don't see deception. I think he honestly wants to help humans that have not been helped before. I think the other sexualities should be allowed to relax too.

He used to be for Civil Unions, citing his Christian faith as a reason for that. The same reason he cited when it came time to say he was for Same-sex Marriage. The man used to attend Jeremiah Wright's Church for 25 years, and I don't think Jeremiah Wright likes the idea of Same-sex Marriage. He might have changed his opinion, but its unlikely.

If you see mariage entirely linked to church than it makes kind of sense not to have gay marriages, but that also means that marriages doesn't make sense if you aren't in a church.

I don't know if that is what he thinks.
