Was Mitt Romney Right to Criticize Preparations for the London Olympics?

Fox Report with Shepard Smith 2012/07/27 17:33:33
You!
Add Photos & Videos
Mitt Romney recently made some pretty undiplomatic remarks about the upcoming Olympics in London, saying he wasn't sure if the country was prepared to host the event. Do you think his comments hold some truth -- or was it a completely unpresidential move?

What's the big deal? The press has been reporting on security problems for weeks. Why the big hoopla when a candidate actually (gasp!) says what everyone else is thinking?

Do you Liberals not GET IT... that you've become a joke to the MAJORITY in our country with you people constantly pointing out grammar and spelling errors in an attempt to look smart? I could give a rat's ass if someone makes a spelling errors, I care if they have common sense and are INFORMED AMERICANS.

    1) Improper use of capitalization and punctuation.

    2) Where are your stats from? Where do you get your information? ( joke to the MAJORITY in our country).

    3) Sorry that we can't stand the idiocy we see stemming from the Right, and it starts with things like grammar and spelling.

    4) Nothing you people say is informed or full of common sense.

Hey, if it makes you feel superior pointing out spelling errors..all the power to you. But remember this...just days before the 1980 President election Carter(the incumbent) vs. Reagan..the "reliable" media(back when it was just ABC, NBC and CBS "news) had Carter ahead of Reagan in the polls by 10 points. You'd think the MSM would finally get it... that they are IRRELEVANT now when it comes to "news" or facts.

Sounds like he is a bit of a "know-it-all" because he was on the SLC Olympic Committee. I love the Olympics and the patriotism that I feel. I also love how all the countries compete and have pride in their nations. Mittens should try to be more diplomatic with his comments.
  • Jackie Tarheel 2012/08/04 07:18:24

Oh so you think "mittens" should have been more diplomatic/respectful with his comments while speaking the TRUTH in another country..but yet it's OK for YOU, as his fellow American, to try to belittle him by referring to him as "mittens"??

Hey, I did have respect for Bush as President. I've only said that in 9 million posts on this site that how you should respect the "office of the presidency" which certainly is not what is done toward our current president. My mother taught me that when I was young, she said that even if you don't like the president, you respect the office. That's what's wrong with kids today, they don't even see their parents be respectful of the highest office of the land, so why should they be respectful of teachers, police, etc. Not only that, if you look at any of my old posts, I actually have said many good things about Bush. I also slammed the GOP for dragging McCain over the coals when he was running against W. for the nominee. He was slandered by his own party. Also when W went to Africa, and pledged money because since he actually has a good heart, after seeing the horrible poverty...again, his own party trashed him. But, as to your non-point, last I checked Mittens wasn't president. P.S. You should mention to every one of your cronies that call Obama nasty names that it is inappropriate.
  • Jackie Tarheel 2012/08/09 05:12:10
    Jackie
Now you're just flat out lying by spewing that GWB's "own party" trashed him for his policies helping Africa and the fight against AIDS when he was POTUS. How DO you liberals sleep at night?? Do you not remember the 2008 primaries WHEN the Clinton's went full bore attacking Obama during the primaries(a member of their own party).
P.S. to you, YOU should also read the threads on other posts with YOUR "tolerant" liberal cronies who all name call, hate/block ANYONE(moderates, independents, libertarians) who simply disagree with their political views.
  • Tarheel Jackie 2012/08/09 05:42:40
    Tarheel
I've been called terrible names by cons on this site. I've been made fun of in very hateful ways. Yeah, though, check it out. GWB was heavily criticized by his own party for pledging money to Africa. I actually used to watch a lot of conservative talk shows. What's his name in the morning with the blonde headed "mature" woman, he was having a field day with that information. Did I say I was a Clinton fan? I'm not, can't stand Hilary Clinton and don't like Bill Clinton either. Yes, I've read many other threads and have been horrified by what was said, but I'll still say, I see way more hatred and mean-spiritness coming from the right. Somewhat, how you're jumping all over me. I didn't do that to you. I'm sorry if you don't believe but it's true. And the racist names that people call Obama are beyond being disrespectful.
  • Jackie Tarheel 2012/08/09 06:48:54 (edited)
    Jackie
Don't pull a Harry Reid,..if you're going to say "the Republican Party" was against GWB for aiding Africa, you've got to provide names of those Republicans who did so(with facts to back it up).
How am I "jumping all over you"?? Oh man, you lib's get offended over ANYTHING a Conservatives says...if we simply say on this website God Bless, the comeback from a "tolerant" lib is. "there is NO GOD, so stop trying to push your radical Christian religious beliefs down our throats".(??)..when we write back, ok I respect your beliefs..you get back oh so now you respect my non religious beliefs, but you don't respect my beliefs on gay marriage!!!???
YOU have no idea how frustrating it is trying to have a respectful debate with a "tolerant" liberal.
  • Tarheel Jackie 2012/08/09 16:15:45
    Tarheel
Pardon me, but I don't think you know how to have a respectful debate, because you are anything but respectful. Perhaps you should read the tone of your post. And as a matter of fact, I am a Christian so again, stop with the jumping down my throat. I told you what I had heard about how other republicans were angry/upset with him over the Africa thing. Why don't you research it? The point of my original post to you was that I have always been respectful toward the President of the United States. In that one, I said it was a shame members of his own party weren't respectful. W. was said to be a religious man, a Christian, I admired that. Too bad, too many of his hypocritical cronies couldn't look at poverty and want to help because they were too greedy.
  • Jackie Tarheel 2012/08/11 07:11:46

Ah no, you said and I quote "GWB was heavily criticized by his own party for pledging money to Africa". You did NOT say what you're saying NOW you said.. "what I had heard about how other republicans were angry/upset with him over the Africa thing". In your original post you were trying to IMPLY that ALL Republicans were against GWB's Aid to Africa. What's hypocritical is YOU saying that you're a Christian.. but then voting for a man/party who do not support our(your supposedly) Christian beliefs that it is WRONG to abort an innocent BABY..but yet you say you care about the needy?? Who's more needy than an innocent baby who was conceived at an "inconvenient" time?? You have a twisted ill informed view on Republicans and Democrats. IF you did some research on your own, you'd be embarrassed how ill informed you are about the party you support. OR you'd be stoked thinking YES, the liberals in government are the party for me because I hate working every day and I too want a free ride off the "rich" tax dollars. Your choice.. be a layabout getting government money, OR choose to be a productive member of our society earning your money from working hard for a "rich guy". It blows my mind how you people don't think there's anything wrong having other people support you or the poor tho...

I didn't change what I said, he was heavily criticized by his own party for that act of compassion. You have no right to say I'm hypocritical because I said I'm a Christian, you don't know me. I didn't make any personal insults to you. I don't believe in abortion or gay marriage but I don't think conservatives should get a free pass on all the non Christian things they stand for. I've worked all my life, but I don't feel anger or bitter towards those that need help. I went into a profession (making a lot less money) in order to help others and feel good about my contribution to society. Peddle your hate rhetoric to someone else. Conservatives are greedy and selfish (not all but many are). They are more concerned over being about to not pay a few more dollars in taxes yet squawk when anyone talks about raising the minimum wage. What about the working poor? Those that work 40+ hours per week but still can't make enough to support their families. Get off your high horse and stop being a jerk. Heads up, insult me again and I'll report you.

Look, you're all over the place, where there is no point in trying to have a civil conversation with you. If I wrote the word black, you'd find a way to twist my words to interpret that I was a racist. There are some people you just can't reason with or have a civil conversation about the issues with without them attacking you for "attacking them" with facts, you're obviously one of them so there is no point of me addressing your points in your last post. Go ahead and "report me" lol, the PTB at SH will read your posts, then mine to you, then yours back at me and we'll say to their staff.."Jackie's all set, no problem here.. NEXT" and then being bored to death having to go through and read all the liberals complaints on this website who "reported" on someone for simpley disagreeing with them.

I'm glad he criticized the Olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greece started the Olympics 776 BC. As is the custom, at the opening of the game in the sponsor's country, the Greek flag is brought in first and Greece's National Anthem is played out of respect. This wasn't done. Further, London let participants from Syria parade around the arena - when their leader is killing women and children daily. THAT was an outrage. How dare they criticize Romney over something their own newspapers have been writing about for months - but disrespect Greece (who are already having major monetary problems) be disrespected...not to mention Syria having rights to participate when they're slaughtering innocent children while the world stands by doing nothing.

I don't know. But England has gone pretty overboard with security measures. They have 13000 royal marines stationed in London. 4000 more than what they had in Afghanistan. They have fighter jets and attack helos doing circuits, the largest ship in the navy is docked in the Thames, they have installed SAM missile sites on top of buildings, placed a lot of new walls and fences and even created new roads.
