Was Mitt Romney Hoping to Be Booed During His NAACP Speech?

No one likes to get booed, but some pundits are out in force saying that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney went for the boos at a recent NAACP event on purpose. I mean seriously, what did Romney expect? If you tell The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People that the white guy is better for black people and that Obamacare sucks, you've got to be expecting some boos, right?

CSMONITOR.COM reports:
Mitt Romney expected and, his critics say, even wanted to be booed at the NAACP convention, as a signal to voters that he's willing to face an audience not likely to agree with him – and not pander.

I would think that mlk idea of judging a man on his character and not skin color would matter to the NAACP

You are where you are in life because of YOUR decisions; a black family lives in the White House; there are no more excuses. Society has paid out of the ying yang to somehow right the ship that was slavery; how much more can we give to those who won't help themselves? My ancestors were slaves; it was the custom back then, I don't feel slighted. Just like going out and killing what you eat tonight, it was the custom; get over it. There are too many VERY successful black Americans; you are the exception, grow up.

I told you; I see everyday blacks, whites, hispanics, europeans, creole, african people everyday living and working in harmony; why don't you take a trip to S. Fla. and see it in action; it may change your outlook on life. As far as the NAACP that Kwame whatever his name is, took the NAACP to the far left marxist extreme. MLK would NOT approve.

If you must BLAME someone, blame the communist democrats for destroying the nuclear black family; replacing a Mom and a Dad with a baby mamma and a baby daddy; giving those poor little teenage girls an abortion any time they wanted one so that the males were not a part of the family. The drop-out rate over 50%; why haven't the communist democrats provided education blacks wanted? Because they have communists inside the party; marxists, helter skelter, divide and conquer;that's why.

He's done enough damage; I am far worse off now than when he took office. By this time, 31/2 years, Reagan had turned it completely around WITHOUT whining about Carter. Obama doesn't know how; he's a community organizer.

    Reagan didn't do sh*t.

The plummeting price of world oil is what brought back the economy. World oil plummeted to a small fraction of the price it had been under the Carter administration, no thanks to Reagan.

Cheap energy stimulates the economy like nothing else, and back then overall energy prices were much more closely tied to the price of world oil then now.

Romney is an opportunist and if you think he's going to back the repeal of the health care law in its entirety I have a bridge to sell you.

Not really sure why you had to point out that there were two 6:00's. But ok.
A few of the people who cheered for Mittens, were interviewed after the show (Yeah, I'm calling it what it is) and said that his campaign had offered to bus them in for the speech.

You know what's missing in the USA? common sense. Mitt Romney gets invited to speak before the racist group NAACP; I am sure it was not opened to the public, especially Romney pulling up in a Greyhound full of white folks. That's not how you accept an invitation to speak before a group like that.

If you're arguing that Mitt Romney lacks common sense, you're preaching to the choir. That said; "common sense" is a total misnomer. It's not nearly as common as the name suggests.

Romney played to his base not the NAACP. His tactic was to win the vote of the whites who fear the Balcks. So far Romney has angered the Women, Hispanic and people of color voters Let see how far that goes.

It could have been as simple as not understanding that repealing the health care law is seen as not in the best interests of the African-American community by the NAACP whom they represent.

If he did this expecting to be booed then it was a smart move to do it early on so the media hype will get over it by the time of election. Nobody will be able to seriously claim that he is afraid of the racists in NAACP.

Booing what he had to say about health care doesn't make them racist though. As far as I know, they clapped and gave a standing ovation. In the grand scheme of things this doesn't matter, anymore than it would if Obama was booed at an NRA gathering.
  • Marek Live Fr... 2012/07/16 05:22:29

So anyone calling obama a commie gasbag is not racist either. After all they criticize him for his politics and not the skin.
