Was it right for Gadaffi to end up with a bullet in his head?

Gaddafi is dead. The NTC has been after him since he the start of Macrh helped considerably by NATO and interested parties in the West.

Amazing to think that only a couple of years ago he was welcoming dignitaries to Libya like long lost friends who had conviniently forgotten about his state sponsored terrorism.

Yesterday he was found cowering in a storm drain after being hit by a NATo air raid on his convoy. He was dragged out by a lynch mob and given the ultimate goodbye present: a bullet to the head.

But is it the mark of a civilized society that his reign should end this way? if you live by the sword should you die by it or should he have been given a proper trial and a chance to face his accusers? Did the west have any interest in Gadaffi being kept alive she he have the chance to spill the beans on MI5, CIA and and any other deals he may have made to come back in form the cold?
