HW was about as honest a patriot that had verifiable sacrifices at a penultimate level that very few do.. While he was more a centrist then i liked, his honor was beyond reproach.

But he forced banks to lend to people that couldn't afford it. Glass-Stegal. The mortgage meltdown bubble was started because of Clinton. Even as bad as that, his admin was conservative. He should not have stolen from SS to have a 'surplus'. SS is facing bankruptcy because of it. Even if there was a real surplus, why didn't he make a principle payment on the nations debt?

the SS trust fund was made available to the general fund under Johnson to cover up the cost of the Vietnam war. It has been a fiscal abortion ever since. He also gave us medicare and medicaid and the great society. generations of people that would never again rely on their own abilities, instead would rely on the tit of the govt.
