WaPo Say Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants Hurts Job Market: Agree?

II used to think my border brothers {illegal aliens} were only migrant farm workers picking strawberries and lettuce. But they are being hired by almost every other type business there is. Believe me I am of mexican american ancestry and have primo hermanos in jalisco.Iam a high school grad with some college and have been looking for work and I cannot prove it with certainty but i know i have been denied employment because of owners preference of wanting illegals. I wait for the the workers to come out for the lunch truck and if their all speaking spanish I dont even bother filling out an application.

It has already been shown more than once that Illegals take jobs that Americans deem to be below them already. Minimum wage jobs are not a living wage for Americans due to cost of living, taxes, etc.

Mexicans are now self deporting because of the bad economy, but will come back after realizing there are jobs here and they won't get deported. Democrats will have more votes with the next generation of illegals' children. Why can a president just ignore the law that is on the books?

Illegals have already taken over many of the construction jobs. Expect it to grow like a cancer.

Quite a few Mexican people do the oranges, strawberries, apples, but than you've got the columbians, cubans, and others who have taken over jobs in our hospitals, restaurants, the entertainment industry. They even get a better education because they are considered minorities.

Actual effect it has on the job market right now in the present, will be minimal. Could produce some long term effect, not necessarily good or bad.

Amnesty was not given, the current administration just announced they will not be prosecuting any of these cases. My opinion is that it was a bold move by Obama faced with a Congress that refuses to act. There is much misinformation about the topic, most of it propaganda supporting or against designed to influence the public more than inform them.
The whole issue has too many racial implications, and potentially dangerous results for a politician on the wrong side of the issue with elections coming up.

Most of the arguments we hear will be nothing more than hyped garbage. Effect it has on most of us will be minimal. Places where it is a large issue, is where it should be dealt with locally, State or even Municipally.

If employers paid fair, living wages, 100% of jobs now held by illegals would be filled by Americans.

Not only that, will they be allowed to vote? that is another big question? If so then the POS currently in office certainly did it for the votes and should be impeached for an unconstitutional act!

Rick, that is my concern also on this topic of illegal immigrants now competing with U.S. citizens for jobs/ income. I agree with you in fear that the POS won't stop at Amnesty for Illegals, that his secret motive for this change of policy is then to grant these immigrants voting privileges! The President is pulling out new tricks from a hat he never should be wearing in the first place, all for a win to be re-elected!! Thank you, we see eye to eye in this area, and I hope that many other people will see what Obama is doing more harm than good.

These people are in the job market for the most part.
Between all of our elected representatives, they could have given these people work permits which would have made a lot more sense, but when have we seen intelligence in DC?

Crime is increasing, weird drugs are on the rise (people are eating each other), and people only care about themselves. We can't trust our neighbors in times of need. They'd pull the wool over our eyes. Rob us blind. Times are bad. I don't see times getting any better either. We can't trust our neighbors as most don't speak English, come from another country, where horrible unthinkable things happen and bring it into our country.

Given that there is a 30 year old age limit for the new policy, most of the people covered aren't yet of working age. It may become more difficult to find a job as a farm laborer or get a job at McDonald's, but the policy will likely have no measurable effect on the availability of the type of living-wage jobs that Americans need.

Yes, in two ways.

1: The obvious one; illegals taking jobs that citizens need.

2: Employers are afraid to employ. They are afraid of accidentally employing an illegal alien.
