Not coincidentally the single biggest group of Obama critics are uneducated, southern, white males ages 70 and up. Or as I call them the Fox News for lunch bunch. I can appreciate your even-handedness, but somehow I think it's not really true, sorry. I honestly think there is a disproportionate violent anger leaning right. In fact, I think it can be quantified in language, especially using racial and gun metaphors. Look at the example conversation dialogue above. If that doesn't spell out the problem, I don't know what does. Here's one of the problems: we can agree there are stupid people in all ideologies. We can agree there is dishonest and hateful rhetoric. But I think the relationship between Conservative and Liberal is about as "fair and equal" as the relationship between the hawk and the rabbit. When I ask Republicans to show examples of violent language from the Left, they have to dig back into the 1960s. Yet, we can find violent racism and hate speech every day on right wing blogs, news, and other Conservative forums, not to mention the vast stylistic difference between people like Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter and any equally propagandist Liberal talk show host. Both may lie, but the Right is notoriously vile about it. Every day, as a Liberal, I put up with right wingers threatening to kill me, my family, every Liberal, Obama, etc., etc. I do not hear this same kind of talk from Liberal channels, no matter how much they misinform in other ways.

I think FoxNews got rid of viewer comments because it is an embarrassingly clear example of the kind of inhumane people they cater to.

If what you posted was accurate, Fox probably was getting some heat from the authorities over the comments on their site. A website cannot allow people to spread hate, so it was either going to mean editing out the crazies or just getting rid of comments altogether. They took the simpler, more diplomatic and cheaper alternative.

The people leaving these comments are an embarrassment to both Fox News and the country. They make all of us look bad.

I'm afraid it doesn't have to be "authentic" to make us all look bad, Fox News and Country. They just have to say something that make it look like it's true. Then say it broadly enough.
