Doc Balkins: "Subject: WalMart vs The Morons"

#1Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of every day.

2.. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people and is the largest private Employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the World.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger & Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only 15 years.

8. During this same period, 31 supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had 5 Years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur At a Wal-Mart store. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to Fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans
Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature,
It is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:
The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.
You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars
AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

(Note: This was sent as an e-mail and I thought it was a great one to pass around)

Fortunately, Walmart has strick REGULATIONS for their workers, stores & management that government refuses to adopt, some actually think regulations do HARM! Walmart shares it's profits with the lowliest of workers not just management sort of in a socialistic method....they also have price controls and offer their OWN workers discounts, not just management...they provide health care savings & virtually build their workers with tolerance & restraint...doesn't matter if they are black, have piercings or pony tails. WAY too much socialism for the likes of the greedy....but Walmart knows that happy workers make for a good Nation...I mean company!

You, purveyor of the BALONEY “Wal-Mart vs. the Morons” above, are the real MORON!

    • Wal-Mart has done more than any single company to destroy the Middle Class, US Manufacturing and the overall economy of this country

    • Many, many of the things we buy so cheaply at Wal-Mart used to be made in this country, but is cheapness worth our economic and social well-being?

    • Wal-Mart, in its quest for ever increasing revenue and profits (which you so slavishly enumerated above) initiated the flight to overseas suppliers

    • When Wal-Mart could not find sufficient existing low-cost vendors in their targeted countries they helped create them.

    • Part of setting up a great many of these companies included overtly and covertly forcing US companies to transfer their know-how and tools (known as “Intellectual property or IP) to off-shore, non-US suppliers.

    • Wal-Mart uses these same IP tactics to enable foreign suppliers to hit target price points for the goods they want…..and they come back each year to continue to drive the off-shore prices even lower.

The TRUE net impact of the “Wal-Marting” the US and the Global Economies is that:

    • The US middle Class is rapidly shrinking and will continue to do so – millions of jobs they used to have are now overseas

    • The US middle Class is rapidly shrinking and will continue to do so – millions of jobs they used to have are now overseas

    • Fewer and fewer low-income Americans can afford Wal-Mart, as indicated by Wal-Mart ‘s ongoing attempts to re-position itself as a preferred retailer to the middle class (like Target)

    • The good jobs we’ve lost are NEVER coming back because the infrastructure, skills and workforces required to compete went overseas under the incessant profit/price prodding of Wal-Mart and its ilk

    • As a nation we need to resolve to vigorously protect US companies in current and future industries that can provide middle class jobs and benefits because once they go, they stay gone! One name for this is "Industrial Policy" something the multi-national companies, free traders and Republicans compare to "Devil Worship". I call running this country withoiut one SUICIDAL and if you want proff look at the direction we have been going in as a global economic power over the past 30 years!

In summary, we need to demand that our government GET INTO THE GAME of helping and defending our employers on a GLOBAL basis with every last pounce of energy and tax money available to them, or else (please fill in your vision of a bad future outcome!)!! Its our country to lose or win!

The Nation which indulges toward another an habitual hatred or an habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest ... Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances, with any portion of the foreign world." - George Washington, Farewell Address, 17 Sept. 1796.

Remember what Lance Winslow wrote in that article "The Flow of Trade in a Global Economy"....dang! better yet...just take the time and read this ...."Now let us look at Wal-Mart again; you buy a product there, 6% goes to the employees, 10-18% is profit to the company, 25% goes to other costs and 50% goes to re-stock or the cost of goods sold. Of the 50% about 20-25% goes to China, a guess, but you get the point. Now then, how long will it take at 433 Billion dollars at year for China to have all of our money, leaving no money flow for us to circulate? At a 17 Trillion dollar economy less than 40-years minus the 1/6 they buy from us. Some say that if we keep putting money into our economy, it would take forever, but if we do not then eventually all the money flow will go. If China buys our debt then eventually they own us, no need to worry about a war, they are buying America, due in part to our own mismanaged trade, so whose fault is that? Not necessarily China, as they are doing what's in the best interests, and we should make sure that trade is not only free, but fair too."

Also, think for a moment about George Washington....yes the man that is on the US dollar bill.... "Washington had been reelected unanimously in 1792. His decision not to seek a third term established a tradition that is now embedded in the 22d Amendment of the Constitution."

Take the time to read his farewell address after only eight years of serving his country and than ask yourself this....How do you think George feels being sent overseas in return for all that foreign so-call cheap items and being left in a foreign bank because the American worker doesn't make anything for the foreigners to buy. Cheap items didn't make this great union of 57...oops! 50 states the greatest place on the face of this Earth.....the American worker (union and non-union) did.

You can't have a strong country without having a strong currency and you can't have a strong currency unless you keep it floating around within your 50 states. This is why the store with the star in the name puts 95% China made items in their stores in China....to keep their "yuan" in their country helping the nice people there. And with only 5% left for all the other 182 country's that make stuff including the United States of America....that doesn't produce very many jobs outside of China.

Being an old person myself and knowing how it was back in the 40's, 50's and 60's in this union of 50 states....I look at George each time I pull him out of my billfold and make a promise to send him out for items made in America so after floating around helping each hand he touches just maybe one day he will shake mine again.

    Oh...

    Retail makes nothing...

Federal Government makes only more debt...

A little less of those two and more of America making stuff would put we the people back on that road that George Washington retired from back in 1796....

"There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else."
    -- Sam Walton

    Think about it America....

    Germany and South Korea did.

Walmart has a 35% profit margin?
I would like to continue but this horrible choking seems to be me....
Chase, which is "my" bank, charges me a 31% interest rate on the unsecured credit card it issued me...
To say 31% is a uxorious rate is biblically affirmed.
To reap 35% profit margins? Now? Excuse me for a sec, my blood's boiling...
Let the owners and Managers of "WALMART" run the prisoner union they may join when the European States of America, which will take over from the former defunct USA,
undertakes its first order of business.

Jay Hawk, after paying into the EDD for 33 years fr my paychecks my Unemployment check was well paid for by myself-one of America's true working persons- and only constitutes freeloading to the John Birch Society ultra-right wingnut brigades. This WalMart, they are the outfit which bought life insurance policies on its own employees- without their knowledge- who knows how they intend to collect on that one?- but I would stay far away from this gigantic exemplar of primitive Capitalism Robber-Baron style.

Like it or not, running this country is a business. It's not arguing a legal case where the final judgement is what you think matters. If you do not run profitably then your fail miserably. This administration thinks they got a judgement in their favor with healthcare (i.e. government expansion) so they think they won. They couldn't care less what it does to the country or the economy down the road, they're not businessmen so they don't understand terms like "long term".

Blabbering about how Wal-Mart does business is fruitless. Knowing you didn't buy from a store that uses labor from countries without good labor laws won't do you much good when your kids and grandkids are starving to death in unemployment lines. Get a grip. This isn't some yuppy hug party, we're in try-to-survive mode and it's gonna be eat-or-be-eaten before it's rainbows and fields of daisies.

I've never purchased anything from them and never will. They have destroyed little towns and left ghost communities. They first started with good merchandise and when local competition (mom and pop business) went under they brought in inferior goods. When customers stopped buying. they up and left.

Hey dookie.... read the tag inside that hat you're spouting. Where was it made? Or that shirt. Or your shoes. You don't actually think that the stuff you buy at Sax's is made in any better working conditions then the stuff at Wally World???? PUH-lease. Saving the world is a great idea but if you think not buying at Wal-Mart is gonna make a dent it in then go for it. I'd take Wally World's method of operation a bazillion times before I'd let the good ol' boyz in Washington touch it. Might not be perfect but it sure as heck WORKS and SURVIVES! Washington prints all the money they want and gets whatever extra money then need just by taxing us more and they STILL CAN'T EVEN BREAK EVEN! :OÞ
