Walgreens No Longer Accepting Medicaid in Washington State... WHo's Next?

Ok, so here's the news of the day. In Washington State, Walgreens is no longer accepting any new Medicaid customers because like most states, Medicaid does not reimburse them completely for the drugs they sell to people on Medicaid. It's expected that other states will follow suit and that other chain outlets like Target, CVS and Walmarts may likewise do the same meaning that in many communities Medicaid patients may not have any local place to fill their prescriptions as a lot of small pharmacies have gone out of business. http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/walgreens-no-new-medica...

So what happens if Walgreens and other big retailers do this in other states?

Then there are the hospitals and doctors refusing Medicare patients or losing so much money on them they're having to raise costs. With all the focus on private insurance companies and people who don't pay their hospital bills, most haven't been factoring in that Medicare and Medicaid do not fully reimburse hospitals and caregivers http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703436504574640...

So what happens when Obama slashing hundreds of billions out of Medicare and Medicaids budget? You got it... even more people will be refused and more retailers will stop filling prescriptions for them.

Obama said his plan would be voluntary and then it basically shifted directions where it now seems mandatory. We were told it would not replace Medicare and Medicaid... so, how is the difference going to be made up for those receiving Medicare and Medicaid as someone's gotta pay for the bills and if you slash the budget for these programs by hundreds of billions of dollars... most caregivers and pharmacies will have no choice but to drop Medicare and Medicaid or force patients to pay the difference.

Just another lie by Obama isn't it because slashing Medicare and Medicaid will leave the people using these programs to have no choice but go on Obamacare but guess what... it may not cover all the charges either so if retailers drop Medicare and medicaid they probably won't accept Obamacare either lol.

Lie after lie after lie by President Obama

I get my prescriptions filled at Walmart buying generic which costs me $12.00 for what if I bought the name brands would cost me $389.00... and I'm lucky as some fighting cancer and with other ailments can't get generics at all. I save $377.00 a month and why Obama reneged on his promise to focus on generic equivalents is mindboggling unless he were bought off by the pharms... then again, there was that secret deal he made with Big Pharma and that's when he stopped talking about generics.

So guess what, looks like what we were told would begin happening is happening as Medicaid recipients are being turned away by Walgreens in Washington State because they're losing money... so are all the pharmacies in Washington State and most states across the country. Obamacare needs to die and we need to focus on fixing what we have instead of always creating something new. Prescription Plan D became a nightmare that no one likes and the people behind it are behind Obamacare too.

I live in Knoxville and Meds for back back pain has already been cut off.. the strong ones.. without a warning, the doctor just cut my friend off her back pain meds, of course he put her on some kind of cheap generic pill and she call me last night crying, she told me she was hurting so bad that the med her doctor had given her to replace the one that he took her off of, did not touch her pain, that is truly ashamed.

Generics are made from different substances and they don't work for everyone much as in many cases generics work better than the name brands... it's about your body chemistry. Vitamin C for instance. Did you know that most vitamin C in an orange is in the peel? Old timers have always known this but the peel tastes nasty. So the generics use the peel that would otherwise be thrown away by orange juice companies while name brand providers use the pulp and throw away the peel. The generic is more powerful for that reason but some people who never ingest the peel can get sick from it even though artificial flavoring is added to get rid of the bitterness. I use the generics on almost everything which works fine for me.

But something like pain medication is different and often it's best to go with a name brand which in many cases can cost a small fortune. However, in other nations you can get that same pain medication for a tenth the cost and the pharms still make profit because of price controls. In order to make their systems work, all the countries Obama and his supporters point to with socialized medicine and universal care have price controls... they have no choice and Obama's plan has none of that because he exempted the pharms and corporate health care providers from his plan... that alone will kill this legislation when it goes into effect.

Im truly sorry you are fighting cancer, its a tough one but a winnable one especially since we have the "evil" corporations doing R & D on in every day and making great headway. I really wish people would slow down on this bill and actually think about what all this entails. Form the portions I have been able to read out of some of the drafts that are out there (since apparently we are voting on something that has not even been finalized yet and we have no idea what the o so trustworthy politicans have hidden in there) but previously there are provisions for fulltime access to everyone's bank account, national cards, and yes withholding of treatment for patients not in the "deathpanel" sit down type forum but death by withholding of treatment or medication. This is by no means a money saving measure, much like SS is. It is simply a way for the government to get more of our money for their spending

This sounds like to me that it is all about political points, not about the welfare or protection of American citizens. My question is....do they want a country? Will this be the one thing that will tip the scale for citizens that will lead to chaos! Let's look at the major pharmacies that are planning to close or reduce services to new clients if this health care plan passes....then how many more people in this field will lose their jobs. Do our political representatives really know what they are doing or do they even care!

And the thing is, the pharmacies and not Big Pharma... they are the resale end and a lot of them are mom and pop shops just trying to make an honest living fighting against the bad reputation the crooks in their industry are creating ripping the government and insurance companies off. One of the biggest scams is getting doctors to write prescriptions which the pharmacies fill for Medicare recipients and then buy the drugs back at a tenth their value to refill someone elses prescription. But that pales in comparison to what Big Pharma itself does. Have you ever been in a doctors office and seen the legal drug pushers come in with their oversized duffle bags and push carts? They are there to literally bribe the doctors into prescribing their employers medications which is why you can go in perfectly health and the doctor will prescribe you pills you obviously do not even need.

Obama's plan addresses none of this, just slash and burn leaving a scorched earth behind it. His focus in the interview he did with FOX was fixing the so called donut hole in Prescription Plan D which everyone says is an absolutely flawed plan costing us far more than projected and most agree it should be repeeled... but as always, once Washington creates legislation, it's there for good.

Slashing money for Medicaid and Medicare is madness if he actually expects to preserve these plans as cutting funding means they'll have to slash what they have to pay for medication and services with. This in turn will force more service providers to stop handling Medicare and Medicaid customers... they simply will have no choice because the governments already not paying for the full costs and as in Washington State, Walgreens had to cut Medicaid and Medicare because they're actually losing money on these customers unable even to break even on costs.

This is very sad for senior citizens who depend on Medicare and part D... to get their medications. I am on disability and I receive Medicare and I am also covered by my husband insurance, Blue/Cross and Blue/Shield which is a big help. I had my doctor to change all of brand name medications to generic, it is saving me a lot of money. Before I was paying a lot of money on brand meds. My heart goes out to the senior citizens to be treated like this, it is a disgrace.

It is but it is inevitable and we were warned this was going to happen. We need to reform the health care system we have and not build more onto it. It can be done with new ways of thinking... unfortunately, our leaders wouldn't understand this as they don't think using common sense or reason.

Wait.... do we really think ANY one has any common sense once they have been in DC more than the first term? LOL I didn't see it the first time I responded.

The question is did they ever have any common sense as they come in as idealists and quickly become part of the corrupt system... there seems to be no in between except for a few like Ron Paul who people won't elect President because he looks like a nerd.

I can't really say much about the peeps that bring docs the meds so the docs will prescribe them.... Since our doc actually saves the samples just to give to his patents that can't afford the actual prescription. It's the only way My husband gets his Diabetic medication, when she doesn't have any my husband has to flat out do without.

One of the doctors here actually tells people why he does that... it's to use you as word of mouth to promote the drugs and when you do get the money, these are what you'll use.

Illegal drug dealers do the same thing giving free hits to make people addicted and because they can't afford the drugs... that's what leads them to commit so much crime to feed their habit.

Legal drugs are different if they aren't addictive but many drugs are addictive and some people have committed crimes to get their next legal fix. Painkillers are the main drug of choice for these people.I was put on painkillers two years ago when I first moved where I live now and one of my neighbors practically begged me to sell him pills at $30 a pop. I refused and he robbed a house to get money offering me $50 a pill which I refused and called the police because he was getting out of his head. His doctor had put him on the drugs and for years knowingly fed his addiction until his doctor got busted.

If your husband uses Metformin, Walmart includes that on it's $4 plan, It's what I use. I don't know about anything more like insulin but several companies will get you the drugs for nothing. This is the company most trusted that I know of http://www.libertymedical.com/

The one my hubby gets the samples of is Actos, and a combo of the Actos and Metformin. The others we can get on the $4.00 plans. Our Doc knows that the only way he takes the Actos is when the doc gives him the samples.

She also tries to get him in studies so he can get his meds that was as well.

When the Actos runs out we simply do without and his sugar levels start on the roller coaster again. It's 104.00 per month and there are no generics of it yet.

I take Metformin and Glimepiride... both are covered under Walmarts $4 plan... http://www.walmart.com/cp/4-P... check here for what they cover. Target, CVS, Walgreenes and others have similar plans but like I said, Walgreenes you have to join their savings club.

Ask your doctor if your husband would do as well using Glimepiride or one of the others on Walmarts site. Check Target and the others also to see whats offered and maybe one covers Actos
