Dem or Rep our leaders need to be protected and need to live a somewhat normal life - it's part of the cost of our democracy and our freedoms.... Nothing wrong with Biden golfing or Bush going to Crawford for down time....

The clown is trotted out every so often for photo-ops ..
    (distraction factor solely .. )

why are we .. the TAXPAYERS .. paying for HIS 'golfing' ..
much less renting the outbuildings on his property for his security too?
(or paying his salary/perks .. flying him ANYWHERE)

Considering the role of VP has been little more than serving as "potential president in case of emergency" since LBJ, his paycheck is rip off enough without this added expense. I think the VP should be sitting in Senate chambers daily, as intended, not acting like he's the president's number one cheerleader on permanent vacation.

The cost for transportation and security is going to be there for people in such positions of power and none of them are going to always sit home or always work. What is the value of the story in the big picture, really?

Also, I don't know where Pat Dollard gets his info or how accurate it all is. He describes himself as:

Hollywood Talent Agent-Turned War Correspondent/Filmmaker, Founder SAFE, contributing journalist at Andrew Breitbart's Big Government, Big Peace, Big Hollywood

So I don't want to look what up myself? How much their stuff costs or how these amounts figure in the big picture or more about Pat Dollard?

There's always the next crisis and I don't even squabble with Bush's downtime in mid to late 2008 when things were at their darkest... Bush spent 879 days at Crawford ranch during his presidency which was a HUGE boost to the local economy. I know the 77 trips on AF1 cost a ton and many were made in 2008 BUT I DON'T CARE about that or Biden's Golf or any of the diversions either side wants to make over this trivial stuff. Should Presidents (and VPs) be required to cloister themselves for 8 years and/or until every element of the economy and the government is working to perfection?
