Atheists don't terrify children with the threat of Satan and Hell in order to get them to agree with some ridiculous beliefs.

maybe if mr virginia official investigated what he's claiming, he'd find that historically, christianity has been responsible for way more violence than any other group in the community. and then maybe he wouldn't make comments that are so stupid, offensive and wrong. but he's a christian. so I'm not counting on him doing anything sensible or intelligent.

    The very notion is absurd!

Besides, everybody knows atheists are amoral, not terroristic. ROFLOL!

(BTW, the Young Turks give stupid people a bad name by association.)

Let's all start using that buzzword for people we don't agree with, then the federal government can lock everyone up indefinately.

Actually, I think those who are "true believers", the fundamentalists of various religions (especially the three religions based on the OT) are more like terrorists than agnostics or athiests. It is due to them that we have all those unconstitutional laws trying to legislate their form of sexual morality and making fun and pleasurable things illegal, because having fun and pleasure in this life is a "sin", doncha know. We would do well to severely limit their influence on legislation to zilch.

I think that we need to revise "Godwin's Law" to include terrorism: "As an online (or public) discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis, Hitler or terrorism approaches 1."

Which countries suffer the least under terrorism? one could pick Scandinavia. Most scandinavians are secular, not religious, yet they have far less terrorism than the rest of us do.

By definition a terrorist is someone who is a believer of some sort, rarely if ever, do people become terrorists to kill for a deity they believe isn't there. Makes no sense, and this guy is talking out of his ass.

Overwhelmingly throughout the world and throughout history terrorists have been religious radicals, very rarely atheists.

I live in Virginia and I didn't even know this jerk was here. THe topic of Christmas decorations seems to be a problem in several states. Why can't Christians put up Christian decorations at the church and on their own homes? Why must religious nonsence have to be taken to the courthouse and other areas that are nutrual on religion (or should be)? Does religious icons have to flood everywhere. I mean how many baby Jesuses does one have to see? What is the point? People are crazy!

Christians can put up displays in public, just as long as every other group including atheist get to have equal access to public space.

Ok, but my question is still the same. How many nativity scenes does there need to be? I wouldn't enjoy rows and rows of Santa Claus or ginger bread houses? Why do people feel it is nesessary to have a nativity on ever corner?

I don't know. Even though Jesus himself taught that people should not make a gaudy display of religion, Christians just love making a gaudy display of their religion even though it contradicts what Jesus taught. So what does that say about Christians?

I don't know either. People get so hung up on a cause that they forget to just enjoy the holiday.
