Vietnam vets: Did anyone spit on you because you were a Vietnam Vet?

This is in response to a 21 year old Australian SH user who considers himself an expert on the Vietnam War because he read ONE BOOK, which he claims is the only scholarly source. He also quotes Wikipedia, which is itself, a questionable source. So, the question is this:

VIETNAM VETERANS ONLY: Did anyone spit on you because you served in Vietnam?

FRIENDS/FAMILY of VETERANS: Do you PERSONALLY know of someone who was spit on, or did you PERSONALLY witness it happening?

I know of NO ONE who was abused or spit on. I will say some were given the finger but they got their asses kicked.

When traveling in uniform, the soldiers risked severe repercussions if they retaliated. I didn't know of anyone personally, until I mentioned it to a friend. He told me that it happened to him (and he wasn't the kind of men you messed with, either, under normal circumstances). It was LA, for him.

Just letting you know I just received several emails saying it means Proud White Christian Male...LOL...Thanks for clearing that up...you should know tho, the guy below ( TMH) said it did not mean what I thought it meant but he could tell I hated white people ?!?!? He never did just say what it was. And for the record we were not even discussing race.

The one who owns the group says it means Pirates with conservative minds. I guess she would know, wouldn't she? It would be a little asinine to mean Proud White Conservative Male, when the majority of the folks with that as part of their screen name are women.

I agree. That is why I find it a mystery that when I first saw it I asked the guy what it meant, he said it did not mean what I thought, that I (meaning me) hated white people then he blocked me. LMAO and we were not even talking about race. infact he is a lying right now about the whole thing..He says I was spouting to him that it meant Proud White Christian Male...I never said that to him at all. I mean, was he ashamed to say what it meant? IT seems he was.

PS There are many asinine things that go on here in SH land. Take note.

I thought it was strange. I responded to the guy because I agreed with him, and he wrote back something nasty and blocked me. I guess anyone who agreed with him couldn't be trusted. LOL!

It hurt seeing them do that and act that way towards my Dad and the others. I wanted to leash out at them but my Mom stopped me and told me that we were better than that.

Nope never happened to me. I got back in Dec 67 so was not as unpopular as things got later.

When the Iraq war broke out, and my son enlisted - I told him I didn't think it was a good idea..... he asked me when I was drafted and was it peacetime... I said 'no' to both and he told me to get out of his face!!! He was ONE HANDSOME SOLDIER!!!

I have a tight-knit hometown... but at the airport upon my return, there were no bands or cameras - no one to look me in the face. There were no 'thank-yous' until Desert Storm era...
