Vietnam Bans Smoking in Public: Great Idea or Too Extreme?

l love the idea

I am all for banning smoking in closed in public places such as bars, but I think banning people smoking in public areas OUTSIDE is going too far.

all of the civilized countries are going in this direction...

I'm a former smoker (smoked lightly for 20 years) who has asthma, and I still think that banning people from smoking while walking down the street or standing outside their home or a building where they work is unreasonable. People should not be smoking in places like hospitals, schools, or grocery stores, but to ban smoking everywhere is a bit too extreme.

i think folks that walk and smoke should be shot. a guy walked by my 7 year old and nearly put her eyes out with a cigarette...i yelled at him and he just kept walking.

As long as you drink and don't put anyone else at risk - nor ask for a liver transplant when you have been soaking your own in tequila or beer or wine or whatever for 30 years, I don't care. As long as when you eat fast food you don't gripe and groan when you are too fat to fit into a regular plane, movie, or sports venue seat, I don't care. However, cigarette smoke affects others. Second hand smoke is just as dangerous. If you can suck it in and not let it out, be my guest. Suck away. However, my bet is you can't. Your freedom ends where it affects others negatively.
