Some countries are taking strides to cut down on smoking by banning it in schools, in the workplace, at bars... But Vietnam just took a giant leap by passing a law that completely bans smoking in public, and outlaws all tobacco advertising. According to Agence-France Press, the law passed by a vote of 440 out of 468, and will go into effect next May. It will be a tough pill to swallow -- about 47.4 percent of Vietnam's male population smokes.
The crackdown is meant to supplement a 2010 ban on smoking in public places like schools and hospitals. Though that ban has been in place for two years now, few pay it mind. The Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance projects that by 2030, tobacco will kill 70,000 people per year in Vietnam if something isn't done to curtail the habit. But is completely banning smoking in public a little too extreme?

If smokers would be MORE considerate, people WOULD NOT push for laws like these.
" I would rather be exposed to thr inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson
For the record I am not a smoker, I would rather have the liberty to choose whether or not I want to be in a place where smokers are, as it is just as easy for people to vacate those premises. I do think it is perfectly fine for public buildings such as hospitals, schools etc.. to ban smoking. But to ban something that people can do in the open with no enclosures, it is as easy for people to make the decision that they can just leave if they do not want to be around it.
Regarding drunk drivers, there is no way to avoid them. There is a way to avoid a smoker. My point is too many laws regarding peoples choices will go far beyond the scope of helpinbg people. Being a RP supporter as my self, you should know this.
443,000 deaths annually (including deaths from secondhand smoke)
49,400 deaths per year from secondhand smoke exposure
Let them smoke in an enclosed place and not have others have to be endangered by them, there are enough things in life to worry about already. I really don't care if they smoke themselves to death, just don't drag others down with them is all. If they were more considerate then this wouldn't be happening.
As far as being where smokers are, well they are everywhere. At the bus stop, in front of the hospital work at, in front of the gas station hanging out. I mean, I can't walk to work without having my lungs assaulted by smoker's smoke and I am sick and tired of it. After a while you get to a point of like, to hell with them especially since they don't care about others.
Where I wait for the shuttle to go to the parking lot where I park my car, I wanted to sit down on the bench but I couldn't because smokers were sitting there and it even had a NO SMOKING sign. This is in front of the hospital too. The security guard came out and told them all to leave. I mean, it's just right out disrespectful to non-smokers. I refuse to bow down to them and give in on this subject. BOTH my parents were victims of smoking. I will not be a s...

I mean, I went for breakfast one day at a local place. I sat at the counter and as I was about to start eating, this jerk lit up a cigarette. I mean, what the hell? I asked him to please put it out and he had the worst attitude you ever want to know.
I'm not mad at you and I get what your saying but this has to end already. I shouldn't have to be imprisoned in my home because they want to kill themselves.
