Verizon drops "moderate Muslim" cable channel Bridges TV A YEAR after owner beheaded his wife at TV studio

The gruesome irony of a TV station founded in order to present a moderate and benign view of Islam, whose founder then beheaded his wife in the studios of the station in a horrific honor killing, is finally drawing to a close.

"Verizon drops Muslim cable channel A YEAR after owner beheaded his wife at TV studio," from the Daily Mail, February 25 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A Muslim cable channel has been dropped by Verizon a year after the owner of the station was given life in prison for beheading his wife at their TV studio.

Bridges TV will go off air on March 14, almost a year to the day after the channel's owner Muzzammil Hassan, 47, was jailed for the brutal murder of his wife Aasiya, who was also the station manager.

Mrs Hassan had told her abusive husband that she was leaving him in 2009 and asked for a divorce.

Six days later he lured her to their office in Buffalo, New York where he stabbed her 40 times and hacked off her head with two hunting knives.

The couple had two children Danyal, nine and seven-year-old Rania.

Hassan, a former banker, was convicted of second-degree murder in 2011 for stabbing and beheading his 37-year-old wife. He received the maximum sentence of 25 years to life in jail.

The Verizon network claimed that dropping the channel was unrelated to the brutal murder, putting the decision down to low viewership figures.

Samantha Azzar, news anchor at Bridges TV told wgrz.com: 'Without Verizon, we will cease to exist.

'There will be no voice for local Muslim Americans to cover stories that are important to them.'...

Yeah, sure. Aside from all the TV networks and all the mainstream media print and Internet outlets, you poor lambs have no one who will push your agenda.

Awwww. I have tears in my eyes thinking how the poor Muslims won't have their own t.v. show just because people don't want to watch it. I ask you, is that fair? Let's tie people down and FORCE them to watch. Or maybe the government can ORDER the network to keep the show on despite bad ratings and no sponsors.

Such gentle human beings. Well, that is if you put aside thier intolerance for other religions, the intolerance of the westernization of thier children or they will be the brunt of an "honor" killing and the general selfishness and ignorance of the average Muslim man. They have sure proven thier track record to me. Do you see a Muslim cleric on national TV bashing the way that Islam has treated the non-Muslim world? No, and you probably never will. I don't have a problem with other religions and I don't have a problem with peaceful Muslims. But, the more that I see and hear, the more I believe that there are far fewer peaceful Muslims than radical ones, especially where the younger ones are concerned.

Well if that's what they claim are moderate muslims then maybe they are still to radical for the United States.

What I'd like to know is when will cannibals ever get their voice to cover stories that are important to them?

I support 100% Verizon's decision on this matter. Where were the local Muslim American voices for Mrs. Hassan?

It's too bad that incident wasn't televised so the world can see the so-called "religion of peace". Not to worry though, it was announced on the Bravo channel last night, a new series named: The Shahs of Beverly Hills. A clan of Persians living it up in Hollywood.

By this time I think everyone should realize that the followers of Islam are at best ,violent sub-human savages to whom life means nothing. Modrate Muslim is as much an oxymoron as calling Islam the 'Religion of Peace".

No television channels that are dedicated by race or religon should be allowed to broadcast. We are all supposed to be treated the same. Not to show preference. Anybody.

There are no moderate muslims - there are practicing muslims and non practicing muslims - the practicing muslims follow the Koran which has no problem with violence
