Vegas Mogul Adelson Gives $10 Million to Romney Super PAC: Fair?

Las Vegas casino tycoon made a huge campaign contribution to support the Republican candidate in the 2012 election. The Super PACs (Political Action Committee) avoid the stringent regulations put on campaigns by government such as the McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Act of 2002. Super PACs that don't contribute to candidates, parties, or other PACs can accept unlimited contributions from individuals, unions, and corporations for the purpose of making independent expenditures -- including campaign marketing and advertising.

Republicans and Democrats alike have several "super donors" that donate millions of dollars to Super PACs. For example, Republicans have the Koch Brothers, Harold C. Simmons, and now Sheldon Adelson and Democrats have George Soros, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Bill Maher and plenty of labor unions.

Critics of Super PACs and large campaign donations argue that too much money gets spent on elections and compromises the electoral process. Proponents of Super PACs argue that the Constitution guarantees campaign donations in the First Amendment (Free Speech) and that all parties have the opportunity to equally donate / compete.Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson is giving $10 million to the super PAC supporting the presumptive GOP nominee, Mitt Romney.

I don't see what's wrong with it....when George Soros donates nothing is said

In an interview with The Washington Post on November 11, 2003, Soros said that removing President George W. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death". He said he would sacrifice his entire fortune to defeat President Bush "if someone guaranteed it".[52] Soros gave $3 million to the Center for American Progress, $2.5 million to MoveOn.org, and $20 million[53] to America Coming Together. These groups worked to support Democrats in the 2004 election. On September 28, 2004 he dedicated more money to the campaign and kicked off his own multi-state tour with a speech: Why We Must Not Re-elect President Bush[54] delivered at the National Press Club in Washington, DC

But so appropriate for a "mormon" to receive money from gambling. He has obviously made a pact with the devil.

Goes to show that we have the best democracy money can buy. lol I think Mitt is playing with fire accepting so much money from someone who would not be well regarded by his church. Gambling is not looked upon as good by his church. I wonder if he could be excommunicated?

All is fair in politics. In politics there is no right or wrong; lie or truth; rich or poor. There are only votes and the objective is to get them any way you can.

Why $10M is chump change compared to what Soros, the man with had outspent other billionaires and millionaires to support his favorite causes and candidates. Soros is also the man who boasted that he "owns" the Democratic party. Why didn't people get outraged about Soros and why didn't he get the same coverage in the media as Adelson and the Koch brothers?

I hate these "Fair/Unfair" questions. Who ever said life was fair? Life is anything but fair and people need to realize that. It was his money, he didn't do anything illegal so what's the problem? How is that any different than Obama getting 10 people donating one million dollars to his PAC?

He has already crashed the Bank of England and a few other countries for the fun of it and to make a few bucks !!!! Now he has his sights set on the U.S. !!!!!

At least we actually know who this donor is.

Half the time the people who influence American politics through campaign donations are hidden, I'm just saying at least we know with Adelson.

That's not saying I agree with the money is speech SC ruling that created SuperPACs I'm just saying at least everyone knows who this donor is.

I mean why should congress want to pass a 'disclosure act' so we can see who is giving unlimited amounts of money anonymously to Super PACs which influence elections I mean... That would be ludicrous, right?

I say as corrupt as Romney is, if he wants to take a chance accepting money from someone under investigation for mob ties and prostitution, more power to him.

Some Republican candidates for president could find themselves similarly embarrassed if criminal investigations against casino mogul Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act come to fruition before November.

Probes by the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission focus on the casino company's operations in Macau, the world's biggest gambling hub, court documents show. A former executive in Adelson's empire, whose allegations are believed to be central to the probe, cites potential illegal dealings with a public official, as well as a tie to an organized crime figure. Yep, he is my partner in our new venture of constructing auto elevators in the event Romney is elected. He puts up the money, I form the company and become the CEO.
We think he can recover the $10 Million even before the election, from the deposits. We
are offering 25% discounts to all who contract before election day. Send me your e-mail
addresses and we will send you a contract. Everyone will want to be like MItten and Kitten, able to have the limo and Driver pick you up at your bedroom instead of on the driveway where it might be raining or snowing. We have already decided how to install
the elevator in the White House, by removing the Lincoln Bedroom and a portion of the East Room on the ground floor, which only a few use anyway.

The leftist's who clicked 'unfair' exemplify the liberal double-standard. They have no problem with George Soros dumping hundreds of millions of dollars into leftist causes. They have no problem with some liberal donating God only knows how much to dine with Mr. and Mrs. Barry Soetoro at Sarah Jessica Parkers' house. Don't forget about the Hollywood degenerates..... Enough with the hypocrisy.
