USS New York Built with WTC Steel-Depressing or Triumph?

The new Navy assault ship USS New York, built with World Trade Center steel, arrived in its namesake city Monday with a 21-gun salute near the site of the 2001 terrorist attack. Is it a depressing reminder of that horrible day, or is it a triumph over terrorism, showing our nation's ability to bounce back from adversity?

Since all of the steel was shipped off before it could be processed as evidence, being that the WTC was a crime scene, I thinking that it's a federal crime that will never be prosecuted.

"Evidence"? "Crime scene"? The WTC site was a war zone, not a simply crime scene.

Was the evidence properly processed, or was it shipped off before it could be properly processed?

What evidence are you talking about? Two big planes struck two big buildings. The two big buildings crashed to the ground. Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility, and the footsteps of the hijackers confirmed it. What evidence are you thinking was lost?

To my knowledge, the remnants of the buildings were not properly processed as evidence of the crime that you described. It was piled up, shipped to Japan and sold as scrap. That's not processing evidence of a crime scene, that's covering up a crime.

Again, why do you keep calling it "crime scene"? It was a war site, no different than the Arizona in Pearl Harbor. Should the Arizona be hauled to the surface and processed as a "crime scene"?

Might not be a bad idea, but I speak from a strictly legal perspective.

The best way to honor all the lives that were lost on 9/11. A very fitting tribute.

I think is a very good thing for us to do, recycle the materials into a nice memorial.

Triumphant and a message! But as a Christian, I’m not sure it’s the best message. But then again I’m not sure of what message is the best message in this case. I don’t truly have an good answer on this one.

I`ve wondered if this may cause the ship to be"haunted"?
We sailors are a supersticious lot.

It is sad that all that steel was available in the first place, but it is very touching

i don´t like it. i think that kind of stuff should be preserved in a more respectful way. it seems almost offensive to turn the product of the biggest terrorist attack in history into a silly boat. standing on that thing would feel to me like standing on top of dead bodies.
