U.S. officials are investigating whether the murder Tuesday of the U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other American officials was a coordinated strike timed for the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks -- and not the result of a protest against an anti-Islam film.

Absolutely rubbish.
The reason for the attack on the US embassy in Benghazi was readily admitted, screamed in fact by the protesters - so why is Fox (faux) news service attempting to twist it into some thing completely false with absolutely NO evidence at all to support such a claim?
Ratings.
Are people still so ignorant that even now 11 years later they would still be so easily mislead by conspiracy wackos?
Apparently some still are.
And that is so very sad.
And here is another real question.. this man who made this movie in California is already claiming his first amendment right to free speech as all the excuse he needed to launch this attack through the internet world wide against Islam - but this movie is DIRECTLY responsible for the events that have taken place and the death of 4 American people - so how is USA to hold this man accountable for his incredibly insensitive actions with his religious hate film?

Just because some one screams 'death to America' that does NOT automatically equal Al'Queda.. a LOT of people in other countries do not like America for their program of invasion for the sake of safety, especially when all they are really trying to protect is the flow of oil.

That movie was disgusting and inciteful, and intentional attack against Islam, how should you expect the reaction to be? Why are so many of you so quick to assume it is related to some past event when there is a present event unfolding right in front of your jaded eyes?
I do not doubt that the reason may be exactly what they say. It is a possibility too. But that is not a response to my criticism of your characterization of fox as faux just because they reported the news that US inteligence is looking into the possibility that there may have been plans for 9/11.

i have been following the news this morning. and the latest reports now say that there was a SEPARATE attack, NOT part of the protest but hoping to use the protest to hide behind, that killed the 4 people in Libya, and The Libyans have already began searching for those suspected militants. There have also been arrests already of people that WERE involved in the protest but NOT part of the separate group.
So now that more facts are being discovered, it would seem i was absolutely correct. The protests were exactly what they claimed to be, outrage at the movie, UNRELATED to 9/11.
And the Attack that killed the Ambassador and his security team were unrelated to the protestors.
To answer your question, i am not a religious zealot, so how i react when people create hate media that is anti-Christianity, or screams anti-God rhetoric.. i do not feel in any way threatened by it. It is not a problem for me as an actual Christian to know that some people hate me for being Chris...

To answer your question, i am not a religious zealot, so how i react when people create hate media that is anti-Christianity, or screams anti-God rhetoric.. i do not feel in any way threatened by it. It is not a problem for me as an actual Christian to know that some people hate me for being Christian, and scream hate toward God.. God as i understand God is big enough and mature enough to simply ignore such acts. i have a simple wisdom that God is love and wisdom and no amount of people screaming, or making movies, is going to have any effect on me.
But the protestors are religious zealots. Their concept of God is of a vindictive God of War, Jihad.. a holy calling to destroy any one who would defame, who would insult, who would deny, their God.
And the film maker knew that. And every one who has ever studied Islamic extremists also knew that - jihadists are literally insane in their love of God as they believe God to be, and they seek ANY opportunity to show their devotion to their God by attacking any one who insults them.
The movie was created to incite anger in Muslim jihadists by directly insulting their God - i ask again what did people really expect would happen?
Faux news has a history already of offering opinions as news, and making up whole news hours out of what is later found to be only some comment made by some one.
So is that really newsworthy? Many many people would think so i guess because their show IS popular in USA and i do not deny that to them at all.
But when the truth comes out as it has so far.. how much actual news did Faux tell?
i get news from Reuters through twitter, from BBC, CNN and NBC. and if there is one odd show that is reporting some thing different.. it always seems to be Faux.
That is why i have learned not to take them seriously as a news program.

Sorry, it doesn't answer my question. The fact remains that government intelligence is looking into the possibility of it being planned. They have not decided one way or the other but there is evidence both ways. Should these facts be reported?
I admit I don't know for sure one way or the other. It's immossible without all details. Why are liberals so worried that it may have been planned? Because it reflects on the current administrations foreign policy. To tell you the truth, either way this issue goes, it will not change my opinion of it.
Any way, lets wait a while and see what develops before we leap to a conclusion. More info is coming out every day.
Avoiding leaping to the wrong conclusion is the advice i have been giving while others were screaming that it was a 9/11 plot.
If you want more reason for why i do not trust Faux news, you can research into why Fox news has been banned from Canada because of Canadian laws against lying in broadcasting.
Personnaly I don't base my desicions soley on what I hear on TV, one way or the other. The actual platforms of the parties have to be weighed along with what comes across the airwaves.
i am very happy to have several sources to collect news from, to cross reference for facts.

The attackers that killed the ambassador used the movie protest to hide behind.
one thing that the NPR link claims that was not given 3 days ago was the claim that:
"foreigners infiltrated Libya over the past few months, planned the attack and used Libyans to carry it out."
So that information is new.
News programs really should not be specifically supporting either a liberal or conservative view. They should be reporting the news as it happens and politics should not dictate what they choose to say or not say.

So the movie protest is NOT related to 9/11, and the attack that killed the ambassador and his team was coordinated with the protest, not 9/11.
The movie protest was the distraction that the killers used.
i know that some people are going to assume that every terrorist act is connected to 9/11 - just as in history for a time every one in USA thought that any act by Nihon was related to the Pearl Harbor attack, or in response to the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombings.
For a time in US history, it was thought that most of 'Hollywood' was actually controlled by Communists(!) and there was a whole government committee created just to spy on movie stars looking for 'unAmerican acts'.
The paranoia of Americans is incredible.
In another thread at this time there are people still screaming that doomsday is coming on 21 December.. based on a sad misinterpretation of the Mayan calendar that the Mayans them selves say is insane.

There is a timeline of what was learned and when it was learned and announced - but no mention of an invented story as you claim from Leon Panetta.
That claim comes from Senator McCain (who has absolutely no access to any military intelligence):

Both Egyptian and Lybian officials have made statements that the movie had little or nothing to do with the attack.
I am not drawing any conclusion yet because I don't think we know enough yet. But one thing is sure; the white house was very anxious to put forward the claim it was all about the movie and has even now avoided the word 'terrorism'.

You should realize by now that FOX's handling of the event in the early days was correct and that by their good investigation we now know that the white house is covering up their faux policy.

The rich retain the wealth, there are no programs or support for the poor, the city legalizes every form of corruption and greed in the name of money, including slavery and prostitution. its leaders and its daughters live in idleness while the poor are left to suffer and struggle.

The happier they are working for me the more productive they are and the longer they will stay with me. Even in this pathetic job market employers do all they can to retain employees. In the news there is the matter of CenturyLink.. they barely held off a general strike that would cover 12 states. workers are facing cuts in their hours and jobs as CenturyLink is hoping to outsource even more jobs overseas.
It is really simple. If the job is sent overseas, then that is one less job that an American can work at. The more jobs go overseas, the fewer jobs Americans have.
No work, means no working class. the middle class shrinks.. and more people who HAD work go on food stamps.
I understand Capitalism, i am also aware of what is actually happening here in USA, i have lived here since 2007.
Be realistic, your life there is nothing like what goes on in socialist countries. Talk to some Russian, Cuban, Polish or Czech Republic immigrants. I've had friends and business associates from all those places. They love America and they all prefer the capitalist system.
