A U.S. immigration agent was shot and wounded during a surveillance operation on

Authorities have not released many details surrounding the circumstances that
led to the shooting of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent about
30 miles (48 kilometres) north of the U.S.-Mexico border, near McAllen,
Texas.
ICE agents and other law enforcement officers were conducting a surveillance
operation when at least one unidentified person opened fire early on Tuesday,
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said.

Either these agents were snooping around on the wrong person's ranch or they were too close to the right person's illegal activity. There has been no word of any arrests so the shooter must have gotten away.
Texas has the Stand Your Ground law and it's a little stronger than other versions of it, as I understand it.The shooter in this case may have been justified, according to this law.
