The Fraser Institute report smacked U.S.A. down from 8th place a decade ago. Big government policies and a trend to more regulations by Washington, D.C. has dropped America out of the top 10.

The report blasts American policies in regard to freedom: The United States, long considered the standard bearer for economic freedom among large industrial nations, has experienced a substantial decline in economic freedom during the past decade.
WND.COM reports:
The United States has slipped to 18th in the world when it comes to economic freedom, according to an annual ranking of nations issued by the Fraser Institute.

Hi Doug, thanks for responding. My feeling is that there is plenty of blame to go around as outlined by Moodys. I am also aware that tax revenues are down dramatically. It seems to me that liquidity should be pumped into the middle class specifically because that is the consumption engine which drives everything. IMO

Great comments, it's nice to talk to someone who gets it, but this is like a self licking ice cream cone. The more debt we digitize, the less our dollar is worth, the more things cost, then we have to pump more cash into the system to prop it up, and the more the system contricts in preparation for the eventual collapse. I heard a great analysis on why the Government can't sell back the GM shares and it's a real pickle we are in.

I watch the currencies and haven't noticed any signs that the presses have been running, at least out of control yet. I have a collection of fine Japanese art swords that will be introduced to the market soon and the consumption and demand is international, thus my interest.
Maybe they should put real estate back into the inflation index, had that been the case, government might have not lost focus on the bubble which i read as a real appraiser in 2005. Nothing was done to put it in check.

No, but in this country socialism is the problem. When we had strong conservative values, when democrats and republicans abided by the constitution and capitalism wasn't infected with fairness and political correctness, then we built things like super computers, airplanes, automobiles, roads, bridges, buildings and we put men on the moon. When that was America people wanted to come here and experience the American dream, now they come for handouts. Now our schools worry more about how we can integrate crap like Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and teach grade school aged children about condoms and homosexual sex.

I am sure beyond any doubt that the "grass roots" is made up of similar minds, millions who are living in rusting trailers in southern states and employed, if at all, in minimum wage jobs at a local chicken farm, Walmart, or Piggly Wiggly market.

Notice that the ten states with the highest percentage of residents who pay no Federal Income Tax are the ten most southern states, plus Utah and Idaho. Isn't that a hoot?
