US Building $92 Million Military Headquarters For Afghanistan– – Can you think of a better way to spend this money?

I don't understand why Americans are not outraged about this sort of thing. To answer my own question, instead of spending that kind of money, why don't we instead, stop spending.

Oh, by the way, the Afghans killed three NATO servicemen, but as of today, they haven't disclosed if they were Americans or not. Here's the story, below:

KABUL — The United States is spending $92 million to build
Afghanistan a new “Pentagon,” a massive five-story military headquarters
with domed roofs and a high-tech basement command center that will
link Afghan generals with their troops fighting the Taliban across the
country.

But when Defense Minister Abdul Rahim Wardak asked for a bigger
office in the building — a change that would cost about $300,000 — he
got a firm “no” in response. These types of changes cost time and money,
U.S. military officials said, and in Afghanistan, both are in
ever-shorter supply.

Most federal money goes to defense. Romney wants to increase it even more, which means he will have to make spending cuts elsewhere.... like Medicare and Medicaid. No surprise there. Republicans have been trying to axe it for years.

Spending in Iraq included new schools ( as ours crumble), new infrastructure ( as ours crumble), new airport, restoring the oil wells Saddam burned ( that oil now goes to Russia and Iran) and new clinics ( while we argue about health care). We even built a new zoo for the Iraqis.

In Afghanistan, similar spending has occurred. GWB decided to put in pricey irrigation
( 60 million) so the Afghans could grow and sell vegetables and fruit. Instead they grow poppy fields , a much better investment. The Bush admin lost 100 million there... it just disappeared. To this day, no one knows where it went.

So, no. None of this surprises me at all. What the Pentagon wants, it gets.
