US Airways Soda Fee Gone: Should US Airways give out free alcohol?

Coffee-Aholic 2009/02/23 19:49:07
Yes! US Airways should have a free-booze promotion!
No. US Airways should NOT give out free alcohol.
US Airways used to charge $2 for soda on flights??
You!

US Airways is changing their ways, and will no longer charge for sodas on domestic flights. The Arizona based airline company was one of the only airline companies left charging for sodas, juice, coffee or bottle water. Now, due to the economic recession, US Airways has joined on board to the free drink policy for passengers riding in coach and first class, no longer charging $2 per drink. Obviously US Airways started charging for drinks in order to generate additional revenue in the past, but now passengers are getting frustrated with the thought of having to pay extra for drinks on flight.

To entice passengers to want to fly US Airways, should they try giving out free alcohol, as a promotion, to those over 21?

And when I was on a plane a few years back, pop was free.

I can't believe a airline actually charged for soda! As to free booze on the flights....while this would no doubt be popular, drunken parties at 35,000 ft. wouldn't be a good way to fly an airplane.

Flying is a difficult enough thing to deal with without boozie, smelly people breathing fumes all over me. Yes, they should pay for booze...bottled water should be free...

I currently have 30,000 frequent flyer miles with U S Airways. If they put a dollar in your right hand, they will take two out of your left hand. Fly Southwest and avoid the agony of dealing with these cheap skates.

As its getting more scary to fly as it is. I am very up for a few drinks before and all during the flight. I am a fun drunk! Hell I will help clean the plane at the other end! As long as we get there safe!

Far too many idiots fly today anyway. Add free alcohol and it would just be worst case for all.

I like to fly dry. I am not fond of drunks in such a tight space for a time determined by the airline and the pilot, not the bathroom.

I no longer fly commercial as I wont bow and scrap to take my shoes off for anyone. So the only reason I care is that too many free drinks might cause more emergency landings.

No because it just not a good idea at all because it could cause a lot of problems and that is a fact no doubt. I have heard time after time people on the plane getting out of hand because they had to much to drink. I think that this is a no brainer not give out free booze it is just to tempting to drink to much.

Wow charging for a soda on an airplane. As far as the alcohol, who can afford the liability since we are no longer responsible for what we put into our mouths/bodies, I am surprised they are giving the free sodas some obesse guy will sue them for serving them a non-diet drink!

I think I wouldn't fly with an airline too cheap to figure out how to include a free soda in a ticket price.

Brian, I think it will take more than cokes on airplanes; how about cars, boats, clothes, furniture. Good to be thinking though, Brian, have a great day!

Yea and we used to be able to smoke on an airplane too. Sadie, we live in different times people refuse to take responsibility for themselves so no one can afford to give anyone free booze, cause if you do and they get hurt or hurt someone else you the server are in deep dark pelosi.

I think you are right; those flights would be sold out! HA! It was crazy back in the 80's you'd get on the plane and as soon as the fasten seat belt sign went off, the entire flight would light up! Crazy! I loved it, no one complained! Smelling like a cig was cool.
