United States citizens... Let's take back our country!

This is not against the Democrats of the Republicans, but ONE of those to parties has chosen to reform their finance strategy and this is the chance for members of ALL parties to stand together with us independents and the major party that has refused the usual funding from Washington lobbyists and Special Interest PACs. This is our chance to WIN BACK our government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE, as it was intended to be!

There are huge two problems with the United States government that we now have the opportunity to correct through this election and a simple electoral reform. Please allow me to explain.

This is a bit lengthy, so I hope you're ready for it. If not, please read what you can and come back when you have the time to read the rest, because this is important.

Here's the first problem...

Every election the big political parties are funded by lobbyists and special interest groups representing the wealthy corporations and individuals who feel being rich somehow makes them better than the rest of us and entitled to rent our government by hanging future campaign funding out there like the proverbial carrot for politicians to strive for by doing whatever their funders ask them to do. I'm not talking about your ordinary philanthropists donating a good cause because they care about it and want to make a difference. They are out there also, but they tend not to hire lobbyists to represent their interests. Powerful rich people have been treating political funding as a form of business venture, investing in the politicians that they feel will bring them the most profits, and taking advantage of a flaw in our electoral system that allows them to keep out anyone they haven't invested in by generating false-positive votes. They have gotten particularly good at manipulating Republicans through fear and hate, while the Democrats have proven slightly harder to manipulate but have had to fight fire with fire to some extent in order to hold any ground at all. The smaller party supporters and independent have proven the hardest to manipulate but are fighting against impossible odds.

Well, there's a better way and I am offering a solution for ALL parties! This time is different. If enough people stand with me, this is about to change and political diversity will thrive in the United States of America forcing the Democratic and Republican parties to EARN OUR VOTES for a change!

Following the lead of Presidential nominee Barack Obama, the Democratic party has chosen to refuse funding from the usual sources so that any Democratic candidate that wins any political office will not be in any way obligated to let the old puppet masters run our government. They are in a position to win our government back for the American people, and I say we should do everything we can to help them accomplish it. I am non-partisan, or as some people like to call it, independent, and am not suggesting that we all start hating the Republicans nor that we all become Democrats, but I am suggesting that we defeat the people who are funding the Republican party and have been manipulating and using the Republicans for their own benefit. Most Republicans have only stayed Republican to oppose the Democratic party, because they have been fooled into thinking that their opposition is of vital importance to our country and they are mostly well intentioned people who want what's best for the United States of America. The problem is, they are being USED and don't even know it! We need to help them, for their own sake as well as ours!

Here's the second problem, which has been feeding the first problem...

We can't vote against anyone in the current system! It's IMPOSSIBLE and most people don't even realize that!

The reason all the negative campaigning pays off isn't because it makes one candidate look good next to the other. Think about it and you will see that I am right. People actually often feel that they are voting for the lesser of two evils, as if they would rather vote for anyone other than those two but feel that they must support one in order to express their fear, hatred, or sometimes even well thought out opposition to the other.

Many people realize that something is wrong and choose not to vote because of it. Well if you are one of those people, I'm asking you to make an exception this time! Please, don't refrain from voting for any position that you are able to in this election. If you know of a candidate that you have valid positive reasons to support, without regard to any rumors about some other candidate, then vote for that candidate. If you have no candidate to give positive support to for a particular position, then PLEASE CAST THAT FALSE-POSITIVE VOTE THIS TIME and then help me to make it so that we will NEVER have to do that again! With the exception of any candidate that you have strong positive reasons to support in this election, I am asking you to vote a straight Democratic ticket. The Democratic party has promised to listen to the people this time, and has turned down funding from Washington lobbyists and special interest Political Action Committees, allowing such PACs at best to help bundle donations from individuals but not to contribute ANY money in their own name, so that the party and it's elected politicians will own NOTHING to such PACs and lobbyists, nor to any organizations that have hired lobbyists to help them get their way! I am NOT asking people to becore Democrats!!! I'm not asking them not to either! What I am doing is asking people to support the major party this election that has chosen to support the American people for a change, and then to INSIST that they give us the right to a negative vote option in ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS so that we can support who we feel is best in future elections without having to fight against a flood of false positive votes!

----

Okay, the following part is optional, but a suggestion for those who want to take the extra step.

Now, I would like to state for the record that I have NEVER started a chain mail, nor have I ever forwarded one without modification to remove the chain-mail functionality of it, other than to report it as SPAM. I have been outright opposed to any kind of open-ended self-reproducing items being set loose on any kind of network, and especially on the Internet, and what I am about to propose is as close as I will get to making an exception. It's what I call a self-terminating or closed-ended chain e-mail. In other words, it asks people to forward it but includes instructions for when to STOP forwarding it... and in such a way that there is no change of the termination condition failing to be met in a reasonable time.

So, here is how the self-terminating chain-mail would read...

> If you care about your country, or about the people of this world, please read this entire message from Donald Arthur Kronos, when you have the time to do so.

> If you think that you or people you know have been voting against politicians more often than for them, think again. You CAN'T vote against ANY one politician, because there is no option to do so in any country that I know of at this time. It's not illegal. It's simply not an option on the ballot! Instead, when you cast a vote FOR one politician, that vote is effectively AGAINST ALL OTHERS including the struggling good ones out there that you may not have even thought about! If you want to see viable political diversity, please INSIST on the right to vote against someone in all future elections!

> Consider a hypothetical scenario in which the nominees of 8 political parties are tied with about the same number of votes to far, in an election taking place within the United States of America, and there are ten million registerd voters who have not voted yet, all of whom are strongly against both the Democratic and Republican party nominees, with about half being more strongly against one and about half being more strongly against the other. If they all go in to vote, the other six parties SHOULD come out ahead of the Democratic and Republican parties for that position, but instead IF THEY ALL VOTE, the Democratic and Republican parties will each be about five million votes ahead of those other six parties... and chances are they will not all vote. There's the real kicker....

> Because of differences in their strategies for gaining votes, those who are against the Democratic party are more likely to vote Republican to represent that opposition the best they can, while those that oppose the Republican party have a greater tendency to simply NOT VOTE unless they actually have a candidate that they support! For this reason, the Republican party is able to win even when they are opposed by more people than the Democratic party AND SUPPORTED BY LESS people than the Democratic party, because FALSE-POSITIVE votes get counted in exactly the same waay as those that were truly cast in positive support of a candidate!

> I am NOT advocating for a future filled with more false-positive votes, but I am instead proposing that we borrow a technique from fire-fighters and put a stop to the wildfire of false-positive votes once and for all by being willing to give our votes in 2008 not just to the candidates that we are fully in support of, but also to those who are in a position to defeat the special-interest funded Republican party. If can find a candidate to support, great! If you have not taken the time to learn about the candidates for a certain position, or if you have been thinking of voting for someone based on smears you have heard about someone else running for the same position, remember that there is a lot of money behind those smears and you're the one paying for them. even if only indirectly. This time, please give the benefit of the doubt to the Democratic party and show support for their choice to let the American people fund their campaigns this time so that they don't owe anyone else when they get elected!

> If you are not a citizen of the United States of America, please don't let that keep you from telling your friends about this, helping us to get this done here in the United States, and looking at how your own country might also benefit from the option of a negative vote in elections.

> For the United States 2008 election, I ask that you vote for the Democratic party in all positions, because they have refused funding for this election from Washingtom lobbyists and special interest Political Action Committees, AND they are the only party that has done so and are in a position to beat the other major political party! Help them to win back our country for the PEOPLE of the United States of America! Then insist that they give the American people the right to choose between ACTUALLY VOTING FOR SOMEONE and ACTUALLY VOTING AGAINST SOMEONE in all future elections, so that none of us ever again has to feel that voting FOR ONE CANDIDATE is the closest we can get to voting AGAINST ANOTHER! These false-positive votes have hurt us for FAR TOO LONG and it's time we put a stop to them!

> I ask that you please forward this until we have the right to vote FOR OR AGAINST any politician in all future elections, or until March 31st, 2009. Which ever comes first. If you wish to forward it beyond march 31st of 2009, then please first remove this line asking that it be forwarded, so that it will not continue to propogate. Please do not alter the proposed termination date as it is intended to keep this message from becoming a burden on bandwidth, storage space, or other such resources. The intention is to do good only, not harm.

> You can find polls and papers related to the right to vote against someone by searching the Internet or by browsing the links at http://SodaHead.com/TechnoZeus

> The original source of this message can be found in the poll at...

> Please research this problem, and my proposed solution. You may think it's something that we can never have, but if you set aside your skepticism and help... maybe you'll make the difference.

> Donald A. Kronos, Ph.D.

So... Vote DEMOCRATIC this election, and INSIST on the addition of an option to vote AGAINST a candidate in ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS!

Yes, we should try to stand United... for good. Unfortunately, too many people out there have forgotten WHY we should stand united, and simply stand behind whoever they have been told represents us. It's time we all look around us and see who's really standing up for us and who who is just trying to distract us from what's important. Hiding in front of a flag to distract people from what they're really looking at and talking about patriotism, religion, and terror should not be enough to convince people that there's any sincere concern for them behind the facade. We, the PEOPLE, outnumber the rich and greedy by far. It's time we take our country back from them and if they try to stop us then fight them until they go broke trying to maintain their power over our government. We can do this... if enough of us are in on it together.

This appears to be just another blog for Obama trying to convince people he is different.
He is taking as much money from special interests, corporations, people with agendas as everyone esle. O.K. I have been a registered democrat for almost 40 years. But I am not blind either. Why won't he show us where he gets his money all those supposedly little donations from people with the same name that are way over. And lots he won't even disclose. He is not any different than all the other people who have been in there. You are going to be very disappointed unfortunately.

No, I won't vote democrat just to "prove a point". While refusing funding from some sources, the democrats have still lined the pockets of their campaign with funding from corporations and other big spenders.

Oh, so they've promised to "listen to the people this time"? Well, we ALL know that politicians keep their promises, don't they? Oh yes, we should take them at their word, even if every politician at some point makes that exact same promise only to disappoint those who believed them.

How I wish there was a font for sarcasm.

This is stupid. No, beyond stupid. I AM an independent, and I say not a damn thing will change for my party by voting straight democrat. Not. A. F*cking. Thing. You want to impress me (and millions of others)? Everyone who wasn't going to vote for either should WRITE IN their ideal candidate, or, in favor of your negative vote casting, say "NOT OBAMA/MCCAIN!" I would write in the name of my dog before voting for someone I do not genuinely believe in to some degree. The only thing I agree on is the option of voting against someone.

Republicans and democrats alike despise the idea of a viable third party. As long as things are like that, no, we absolutely will NOT get a major change for the better.

This is not about proving a point. I'm sorry I have failed to communicate clearly enough for you to understand. This is about making a change... and if the Democrats get at least a 2/3 majority and fail to give us a right to vote agains them or anyone else in future elections when such a vote seems deserved, then at that time I would recommend that people boycot them completly... and THAT would be to make a point!

You will not get political diversity from a democratic majority. I think that has been made clear since they won the majority in the House. They (for the most part) are not for bipartisanship anymore than the republicans are, often even less so. What you will get from a democratic president and majority is a lot of swollen heads and big ideas driven by personal motivation instead of a will to serve America as a whole.

This isn't the first time the democrats have promised change in very recent years. I recall Pelosi's speech two years ago. I'm sure this is the part where you or someone else says, "But they've had to work with Bush and it's his fault nothing has changed."

Wrong. Take, for example, their record on earmarks, something they promised to reform. Yet Pelosi and her cohorts have repeatedly tacked earmarks onto passing bills. This is more than a little hypocritical. While I understand that the republicans aren't popular, I think it's incredibly gullible to believe that democrats will change anything when they have proven - by their own actions - that they will not.
  • TechnoZeus Darkest... 2008/10/19 05:51:41
    TechnoZeus
You still are missing the point. Who had control of the house was not the Democrats or the Republicans or even both. For a very long time those two parties have been for the most part doing the bidding of people who can afford to tip the scales against which ever of them cooperates the least... and the tiny majority that the Democratic party got in the last election really counts for pretty much nothing.

I'm not claiming that a Democratic majority will gain up political diversity. I am saying that the right to vote against someone will do that... and I am also saying that our best bet at getting that right is to elect as many Democratic candidates as possible in this election and then demand that they give us the right... and boycot them if they have the ability and refuse. If there are too few Republicans elected to stop them, then they will have no excuse not to give us the right. It's that simple.

I have a full electoral reform that I am proposing, but the key component and the only part that in my opinion is worth drastic measures to get is the right to vote against someone. People should have had that right over 200 years ago... but it's too late to change the past and high time we change the future.

People keep blaming things on Buch but he ha been in office 8 yrs and to me only the last two were bad, that is also when Democrats took over congress and we know that the president cant do anything without congress approving. So it is kinda funny that the first 6 yrs (with a republican congress) were awesome and no one can deny that and the last two yrs where the economy has fallen and everything went to shit the congress won democrat. Can someone explain this too me, I would love to know how republicans are to blame?
  • TechnoZeus bigwill... 2008/10/16 19:46:15
    TechnoZeus
Okay, there are at least a couple of things that need corrected.

First... The Democrats have not taken over congress. What they did was to win a slight majority... which is not nearly enough to "control" congress, especially since the Democrats are not as good at "group voting" as the Republicans, but instead have to actually agree with each other to get their strength in numbers to show up.

Another thing is that most of the damage had already been done before the Democratic party gained that small lead over the Republicans... and with the same President in charge there wasn't much hope of them being able to stop the downward spiral.

One more very important point that I would like to make is that the problem is not what political party is in charge of what branch of the government but rather who is manipulating the reigning politicians through financial promises and threats. It has been accepted by most politicians for a very long time that if they want to get ahead, whether for their own sake or to be able to do good for others, they needed to accept the money dangled in front of them by the rich entities that they knew would then turn around and try to use that same money to manipulate those who's campaigns they financed. Some even funded both sides just to be sure that they couldn't lose... but this time, their money has been rejected by the Democratic party.

    Cool. Thanks.

Part of the electoral reform I am proposing actually would be to remove party names from the ballots, so that straight party voting would require actually knowing at least which candidates were running under that party... because I honestly feel that people should try harder to know who they are voting for... but right now the system is still broken and the straight party vote that I am recommending is the most mathematically effective way of voting against the hate, smears, lies, and other negative campaign tactics, under the current system.

It will help if we can go beyond that and reward the Democratic party from turning down the money that has for too long funded both major parties as if they were a single entity existing to do the will of those behind the special interest PACs and Washington lobbyists... and give them a chance to do what's right for the American people, and for the world. It's not enough to simply help Barack Obama win. We need to get as many politicials supporting him elected as possible... and then insist that they reward the American people for the opportunity to do what's right, by doing it... and giving us a permanent option to vote for or against any candidate in all future elections... so that no second head can grow back in their place now that they've separated themselves from the two-headed political monster they were a part of.

Much appreciated, of course. Barack Obama has said he didn't know if it would work when he started his presidential campaign with a positive attitude and no funding from Washington Lobbyists or Special Interest PACs, and Hillary Clinton was so convinced that the American people could not beat such powers that she told people you can't just waive a magic wand and make the Special Interests disappear, and like other politicians in both major political parties, Barack has accepted their money in the past... because it was assumed even by him that there was no other way to win... but they have been cutting back funding to the Democratic party and giving more of it to the Republican party as the years go by, because the Democrats have proven harder to control and they thought cutting back on funding would make them more cooperative... but it has backfired and the big diopoly of United States politics has officially split from two branches of one party that wins all the time and does what the big money powers want... into two truly distinct parties, one of which is funded by the American people... at least for now. It's up to us what happens next. We need to take advantage of this opportunity to make sure that the big money powers don't get back in control... and this revolution is the most important step.

True... and we have that opportunity now. That's why I am trying to make sure we don't miss the opportunity to make the power of the people over the government permanent. The United States of America was meant to have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but as the founders feared would happen... people abused all the power they could get to give themselves more power to abuse. They tried to prevent it, but made the mistake of leaving those who oppose a politician without a clear voice in the system. We need to correct that error.
