UN OFFICIAL SAYS OBAMA MAY BE GUILTY OF WAR CRIMES

SunShine 2012/06/22 13:30:17

Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama han’t convinced everyone at the United Nations that he’s deserving of the prize. In fact, a UN official is now claiming Obama may be guilty of war crimes over his use of drone strikes via the CIA.

The US policy of using aerial drones to carry out targeted killings presents a major challenge to the system of international law that has endured since the second world war, a United Nations investigator has said.

Christof Heyns, the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, summary or arbitrary executions, told a conference in Geneva that President Obama’s attacks in Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere, carried out by the CIA, would encourage other states to flout long-establishedhuman rights standards.

In his strongest critique so far of drone strikes, Heyns suggested some may even constitute “war crimes”. His comments come amid rising international unease over the surge in killings by remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Addressing the conference, which was organised by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a second UN rapporteur, Ben Emmerson QC, who monitors counter-terrorism, announced he would be prioritising inquiries into drone strikes.

I wonder why these same officials don’t comment about the warzone that is Chicago, Illinois? Not that drones are killing people in Chicago, but it’s certainly the case that people that shouldn’t be allowed to have guns are using guns to kill people who should be allowed to have them, but can’t. All thanks to Obama and his ilk in government. But that’s a whole different topic…

If you take the advice of the UN today, and give them any credibility regarding our actions re: drones, yea or nay, you have opened the door to the UN meddling in the sovereignty of the US.
Beware of letting the fox in the hen house! You will regret it.

Does this mean that once he's out of office, Obama is going to hide in a hole in the ground to prevent himself from being sent to the Hague? Think of the budget savings if we just turn him over to the UN now.

Personally, I think the UN is worthless and we spend too many tax dollars supporting them. As far as the UN getting this right, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

It was inevitable: when capture was out of the question, the new rules of engagement became brutally simply: Shoot to kill. And you have to wonder: how many of those dead Arabs (and other nationalities) might have died, *not* because they were planning any mayhem, but because they knew too much about BHO?

SO when will it get so bad in America that we descend into chaos and allow the UN to come in and save us from this war (and economic ) criminal?

Unlike what Liberals did to Bush, I will not criticize Obama for doing something I praised Bush for.

Obama is the President of the United States and as Commander in Chief, his first duty is too protect the American people. That means using all available technology to accomplish that goal with minimal loss of life on both sides and these drones do exactly that. Terrorism is very much real and we know from the Bin Laden's tapes, we are having an effect.

Now his war with Libya was an example of bad policy.....

I agree. When it comes to drone strikes, Obama has showed some balls. Although i did not support Libyan rebels like Obama, Obama has done a decent job conducting targeted airstrike missions in other countries.
